!! Universal Music Group is getting it right !!
by reducing the price for all CDs on the label to $12.98. They say they expect the price cut to bring people back into record stores (and presumably away from recently-lucrative online music stores like iTunes). Despite doubts following the FTC ruling against the record labels for price-fixing, it looks like CD prices are actually coming down, maybe as soon as Oct. 1! I guess we'll have to wait and see if the other major labels follow suit, but this is a good start, and I have a feeling that everyone is going to soon see that CD sales were not dropping because of online piracy, but because they were too damned expensive.
