Yes, today is a celebration of not giving each other AIDS and also spreading awareness so a cure will be found more quickly! Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, and put giant condoms over national monuments (see above photo of Buenos Aires, Argentina)! This year for the first time, World AIDS Day was organized by an independent organization called the World AIDS Campaign, meaning that long-time organizers UNAIDS will have the time to refocus on planning even bigger parties.
In the United States, HIV infection rates have been slowly increasing [PDF] over the last few years. Today is the day to remember that we are still at risk. Be safe, everybody.
