!! The '5-second rule' is real! !!
It turns out that I and others who pick food up off the floor and eat it are not totally disgusting! Scientists recently confirmed that as long as you pick up food within five seconds of dropping it, it is safe to eat because it takes germs at least that long to attach themselves to food. All bets are off, however, if the food is sticky or you drop it on carpet. This is bad news for New Yorkers as the price of apartments with hard wood floors will now surely go up even more.
