!! OMG, how gourmet: Darkness !!

dark-restaurant-china.jpg
China has opened its first “dark restaurant” in Beijing. The idea is that by eating your food in complete darkness, it will all taste better (or worse, I imagine), because depriving one sense heightens the others. The waiters wear night-vision goggles, and the bathrooms are lit, if that makes the experience seem any less scary.
While this is China’s first dark restaurant, there are others all over the world. Somehow I had never heard of this concept, and now I want to go just to see if they make people eat bugs. (via Spluch)
If you live in eastern Canada, you can try it out at O.NOIR in Montreal, which is similar in concept to the Beijing restaurant, and to the Swiss restaurant that started it all, The Blind Cow. In New York City, Dark Dining Projects hosts events at the CamaJe Bistro, and there is now even a dining in the dark dating circuit!
