!! OMG, how sad: Donnie Davies !!

Bookmark and Share [[comments: 22]]

What happens when a "reformed" homosexual picks up a guitar? I know you're not going to wait for me to tell you. Watching Mr. Donnie Davies sing in his pink polo shirt about how "Jesus is the only man for me" might make you laugh or want to lash out violently. Check out the chorus: "God hates a fag // God hates fags // If you're a fag // he hates you too." Clever stuff!

When he's not out singing about how much he doesn't like cock and anus, Mr. Davies runs the "Love God's Way" website where he lists bands that are acceptable for your might-be-gay teen to listen to, such as heterosexual icon Cyndi Lauper, and other "gay" bands that they should stay away from, such as Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I just don't know what to make of it. (Many thanks to Dave for the tip!)

UPDATE: While the greater Internet community tries to decide if this is a hoax, I just wish the video would stay online for more than two seconds. YouTube took it down for terms of use violations, and now it looks like MySpace has, too. Isn't there a place for (maybe tongue-in-cheek) anti-gay hate speech disguised as horrible pop music these days?

Thanks so much for the support, everybody. I tell you what, mysterious electronic attacks, phone calls from untracable numbers that claim to be the U.S. Postal Service offering to deliver lost packages and an enormous amount of hate mail is enough to make any Minister shrink from God's mission. But I tell you friends, we cant let ourselves be intimidated by the influence of a few well placed psychopaths. Liberty is the foundation of this Nation Under God and the people have the right to chose their own messages and have the right to read them as well.

Some people might think this is some kind of this is some kind of organized conspiracy against the message of the Westboro Baptist Church. I didn't realize when I wrote my song that it might compete with their message. I mean, I was utterly clueless to that. Now that the DJs keep asking me about it I had to think about it and I think people in America have a right to chose their own message. Thats not the same thing as censorship. No one has a right to utterly control what you see, what you hear and what you think. Thats fundamentally anti-American and you should fight it with a resolve that strikes to the very core of your being even if it risks everything you have, otherwise America risks losing everything it is and should be.

First MySpace deleted my account and now they have deleted the account of our band. First they censored me and now they've censored people I'm connected to. If you are a MySpace user, dont allow this. Every one of you who believes in the Freedom of Expression, whether you like our song or not, needs to step up to bat. This is the time. Now.

Looks like a fat, balding version of Joaquin Phoenix...

I still wonder if this guy is serious. I can easily believe the hateful music video, but the YouTube postings of him preaching totally look like he's trying to lampoon the Southern Baptist stereotype. The "C.H.O.P.S" logo is also too over-the-top to be believable. I still think this guy just might be having a joke on us all. Gay or straight, I'm sure Fred Phelps is happy.

well as a gay republican dentist, i can tell you for one hundred percent sure that this video is NOT a joke!!!! many of my femily members also HATE (rhymes with) maggots, and I would not be surprsied if they decided to make a song about that either! so it could be true and i know it is! i have experienced HATRED and BIGOTRY and it is not funny! this could not be a joke! just look at this "man's" website (i bet he's a big ol bottom!)! he put so much woks into it that it must be real. No one would make that much time for a joke, and people are very filled with hate this days. Well maybe you don't remember a little president called RICHARD NIXON? he might have been a quaker but he also hated homosexuals and lesbos, AND he was president of the whole USA. he was also my favorite president although I am out and proud I am also a proud republican and let's not forget that before Watergate Nixon was a very good precedent and no one knows for sure whether Watergate was "real" or just a "hoax". Thank you for your time! I love your blog could you please post a picture of those boys from Seventh Heaven? They are my favorties and so cute.

As shocked as I was by DD's video and website, I was even more shocked by the posts here that questioned whether or not this was a joke. Maybe the people who post here are younger than me -- I'm 49 -- and haven't been exposed to this Christian Right s**t in their private lives, but believe me, I have, and THIS IS NO JOKE. It's (self) hate, pure and simple. Pathetic? Yes. Insane? Yes. A joke? Absolutely not.

Wow, I wish I could belive this was a joke. I mean lets face it I sort of live in a bubble, and I'm sure there are people out there who really support this guy, but wow how tacky is this. Trust me if this guy is gay and is playing a joke, he just killed his sex life.

I say let him hate all he wants; It only props up the lovely outsider status that us fags and dykes have, which keep us from having to answer to as many people's bougie expecatations as we go along.
