!! OMG, they're cardboard: Certain Chinese buns !!

If you never knew how certain illicit "baozi" (steamed buns) are made, you might find this illuminating:

Squares of cardboard picked from the ground are first soaked to a pulp in a plastic basin of caustic soda -- a chemical base commonly used in manufacturing paper and soap -- then chopped into tiny morsels with a cleaver. Fatty pork and powdered seasoning are stirred in.

Yum yum! I think I'll be using the Michelin Guide on my next visit to Beijing. (via Nervous Breakdown)

It is a shame to the ancient heritage of Chinese cuisine.

However, keep in mind that there are still loads of Chinese vendors smart enough not to lose their customers this easily.

Don't stop eating Chinese buns, they are an example of the civilisation.

This tradition is not to be stopped by one stupid vendor mixing paper with pork.

There are still lots of other people making REAL, nice tasting buns out there!

PS: Of course, judging by that, I'm Chinese lolz!
