It's hard to tell if the cat is doing this by himself or if he has help. My theory is that someone is scratching him at the base of his tail. (Thanks to Tommy T. for the tip!)
It is NOT torture. It is simply a case of butt scratching. Most cats react with some intensity when you pat/scratch the area just in front of their tail. This cats reaction is amazing and I want him. One of my favorite cat clips ever! I saw it a year or so ago and it still never ceases to make me smile.
