!! OMG, Remember Their Names! FAME! !!

Who can’t wait for the FAME remake? Me! I may not care about a lot of things (sorry!) but one thing I really like is dancing/singing teenagers in crazy outfits. Although the official music video for the title song pales in comparison to the original, I’ll cut these youngters some slack, because it’s hard to imagine that anything could possible compete Irene Cara’s masterpiece. (Well, Michelle Sutlovitch’s classic 1982 performance on Stairway to Stardom comes close.) Anyway, I’m excited. I’ve already got my legwarmers on! The remake comes out on the 25th.

  1. With the success of Glee, this movie should bring back the glory of highschool talent. I live just across the street from Cincinnati’s School for the Creative and Performing Arts which has its own national reality show, MTV’s ‘Taking The Stage’ so I have been around it for a long time.

  2. Baby, I’m sorry that you will be disappointed. I to wish this was going to be a out of this world remake – but you have said it yourself… Irene Cara’s masterpiece. Plus I daresay that its highly unlikely this film will surpass the topics covered in the original!
Some things should be left alone.

  3. Wow, Frunced, you hit my sentiments *exactly*! I was going to compare it to Britney rather than Miley, but that’s exactly my problem with it, too. It looks like a bunch of superficial, beautiful, shallow people looking literally for fame. In the original film, “fame” was more of a symbol for the good, the bad, the downtrodden, the more fortunate, the risk-takers to all go out and discover success, on their own terms, whatever that meant to each of them. I hardly think this movie looks like it has any of the spirit or passion or feeling in it. So, eh, I vote no, thanks.

  4. I think the problem with the original FAME is that everyone can remember about 10 minutes of it, and they forget the dreadful, slow paced, nothing really happened 2+ hours that was the rest of it. I rewatched the original about a year ago, and was shocked at how dull it was.

  5. Blah….gimme me the original

  6. I MIGHT give this film a chance to be seen by me, but, really, I don’t like what I’ve seen so far… at all…

  7. This sounds dreadful. It seems to have been pasteurised, homogenised and processed until there was not a single thread of spirit left in it. In other words, it has been Miley-fied.
