It's the onion! I was offended too (especially since it was "Today News." Then I watched the intro again and I saw "the Onion." Total flipped from serious to satirical. Awesome.
This is a brilliant double-satire of homophobia and the ridiculous anti-smoking ads (showing the woman with no fingers, or the man with a hole in his throat). Like all satire there is some truth to it - the fact that calling anything "gay" will deter teenage boys more than anything else. The commercials they made were fucking brilliant. Especially the going down on the guy and pulling a cig from his crotch.
