Canadian indie pop outfit The Hidden Cameras played to an intimate, invite-only crowd Tuesday night to celebrate of the release of their new album, Origin:Orphan. Frontman Joel Gibb, accompanied by an eight-piece band plus a choir, gave an energetic often whimsical performance of the new album from start to finish. The scene was Goodhandy’s Nightclub, also known as Toronto’s only “pansexual playground”. We were, of course, on the guest list and caught all the action. Check out the photos after the jump.

The Hidden Cameras are key to bridging the gap between now and the post-gay movement. Their music exposes queer sexual politics to the general public. Lots of my straight friends are hooked on their fun music.
Frankly, more people should know about them and I’m ashamed that more don’t.
Nothing but love for Joel Gibb and his merry crew! ^_^
I’m so there at le Poisson Rouge in November.
hey guys, I just wanted to chime in here about our inclusion of photos from the Hidden Cameras concert. These guys are Canadian, but have had a big international profile for years, hence all the American tour dates at the bottom of the post, none of which are “invitation only.”
We like to post exclusive music content about bands with a queer-interest. A lot of them are a bit under the radar, but we think that’s more interesting than posting the same interview with Britney you’ve already read a million times. Our content includes interviews, MP3 downloads, and now original photos. I hope you all enjoy.

The Hidden Cameras are well known outside of Canada, so the first gig of their new tour is definitely deserving of a post.
Also, Goodhandy’s is indeed a sex club, with live sex shows with boys, t-girls and everything else with a pulse… you can check out their site, but of course be warned that it is NSFW http://www.goodhandys.com
Amen, Vegetablelollipop. So much of what’s been posted lately goes beyond me. I just don’t get the significance of many of the posts. The golden era of Frank helming OMG seems to be over. Guess I just need to keep my mind open and hope I catch on.
It’s great having a new contributor to join the splendidness that is Bmad. Welcome Robert!
I do have an urgent suggestion/observation.
It would REALLY, REALLY help to have some context for why the subjects featured in the photos are important. I’m sure I am not alone in not knowing who The Hidden Cameras are and why they are important. Additionally, beyond it being pansexual, why is this nightclub important…is it really a “sex club”?
Also, if its a private, invitation-only, Canadian affair then why should we care about it? Why the exclusiveness?
Will Robert’s photos appeal beyond this kind of narrow coterie?
That’s my 2¢.
Hope you listen…
