Aw! Don't you hate it when you're discriminated against for being a total fucking bigot? I know, I know-- I'm a bigot for calling this idiot a bigot! Isn't there some law against that?! If not, I'm sure there's one in the works.
(Thank you so very much to BOBO for the helpful and kind tip!)
This guy will totally be sucking someone's cock at the back of the Ramrod any day now LOL...
Anyhoo, the basic thought of not believing "gay is the way" and all that BS, no, he shouldn't have been fired for that...however, I don't believe he was. I think he was fired because he told his boss she was disgusting and immoral.
I agree with Arkon. I think Bmad makes a valid point but procedure should be followed. The man should have a meeting with HR about how to conduct himself in the workplace, the company can decide if it wants to let everyone talk about marriage or no one, and see where it goes. To fire him without a prior problem is likely to make him feel victimized by the radical left.
Let him have some time to see that the woman's marriage isn't a threat to him and maybe he'll warm up to the idea.
The fact that the reverse would be legal in other states doesn't mean that Massachusetts should violate this man's rights in this case.
well, in theory i agree with you, arkoncrest, but if you can be fired for being gay (as you can in most states in the US) than I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to be fired for being a straight asshole as well. brainstorm: maybe this is the way to sell ENDA to bigots? straight rights now!
A couple of thoughts:
1) I really wish he'd stop referring to facts that make him uncomfortable as "so-called" or "supposed", etc. Gay marriage is not suupposedly legal in MA, it is just a plain fact. His co-worker didn't have a "so-called" female fiance, she had a real, factual female fiance. I personally don't care for pears, so I will from now on refer to them as a "so-called" fruit.
2) I am not sure he should've been fired. He should've been told to keep his political/religious opinions to himself and given a chance to do that before he got fired. Tolerance also sometimes includes tolerating the intolerant. Of course, if he won't stop proselytizing at work, *then* fire his ass.
