Former Everything But the Girl vocalist and active tweeter Tracey Thorn announced the details of her third solo album Love and its Opposite earlier today via Pitchfork. It’s due out in the States on May 18 and will feature appearances by Jens Lekman, Cortney Tidwell and members of Hot Chip, as well as a cover of Lee Hazelwood’s “Come on Home to Me”.
The first cut on the album “Oh, the Divorces!” is available for free download below. Here’s what Tracey had to say about the song on her MySpace blog:

The last couple of years have seen so many of my close friends and family heading for the divorce courts that I couldn’t help but write about it (sorry, that is one of the perils of being friends with a songwriter). The truth is that not only have I not got divorced this year, I have in fact got married. Yes, you do know who to. A twenty seven year engagement may seem cautious to some of you, but I think in these uncertain times, it is as well to be sure of someone before you make any rash commitments. So stop worrying, the divorce bit isn’t about me. Sadly, the middle-aged bit is.

(She married Ben Watt, the other half of Everything But the Girl.)
