Malcolm McLaren died this afternoon. While he’s probably most famous for The Sex Pistols and Bow Wow Wow, his semi-forgotten solo work is kind of awesome– Liz Phair fittingly appropriated some of the lyrics of Double Dutch (above) for her own Whip Smart.
I was able to hang out with Mr. McLaren a few times and he was very nice. Sad!

JBS, I was aware of the controversy over the Bow Wow Wow album cover with a partially naked Lwin. I’ll admit I was not aware of charges of rape.
Ask Annabella Lwin how “nice” Malcom was when she was 14. I’m quite certain he was nice whilst plying her with drugs and alcohol before raping her (and bragging to OK! magazine about it). Jesus, OMGblog, do your homework – he was disgusting.
I’m sure a lot of people who rape kids are “nice” and can get on just fine without ridicule from omgblog.com … unless it’s man-on-boy rape…that crosses a line. Sickening.
