!! OMG, How Revolutionary: Gay husbands advance marriage equality by winning shopping spree !!

As most of our readers know, we’re big fans of marriage equality here at OMG Blog– and nothing says marriage equality like a lavish dowry from CRATE & BARREL! Gay newlyweds Gregory and Jonathan (above) recently launched an extremely aggressive campaign to win a Crate and Barrel wedding contest. And they courageously came in second, winning a $7,500 Crate and Barrel gift certificate. Let’s hope these brave freedom fighters enjoy their stemless wineglasses and chilewich placemats! And thank you for helping us fight for our right to be as materialistic and greedy as straight brides!

  1. @Beargrin,
    YES, you’re 100% right.

  2. hey beargrin– i am in favor of everyone winning shopping sprees! Especially me! But i found the constant shilling for votes in the name of marriage equality (i got a bunch of requests for publicity in my inbox, all framed as if it was an important human rights issue!) to be pretty gross. I salute these two for being so enterprising in their pursuit of winning a contest, but it’s pretty disingenuous to suggest that getting a bunch of free crap from Crate and Barrel has anything at all to do with equality or gay rights or politics. This feeds into a bigger point about marriage equality– while I’m obviously totally in favor of it I think it’s a shame when the aspects we focus on are the tacky, over-the-top ceremonies and lavish gift registries.

  3. Dude, so what, they won a shopping spree.
    Why so bitchy?

  4. I shouldn’t be perving, but the one on the right is extra cute.

Margaret Cho once spoke in favour of same-sex marriage thusly: “Any government that would deny a gay man the right to a bridal registry is a fascist state.”
