!! OMG, How Dramatic: Flight attendant uses emergency slide to make his huffy job exit !!

Normally I love working for OMG Blog, but I’ll admit that it can sometimes be trying keeping up with Frank’s incessant demands.* Why have I never quit? Because the OMG Office doesn’t have a giant inflatable slide!**
That was not an issue for 38-year-old JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater, who had an argument with a passenger and stormed off the plane by inflating the emergency exit slide and sliding his way to employment freedom. What a way to go out with a swish!

“To the passenger who called me a m—f–er, f— you,” flight attendant Steven Slater ranted over the intercom, passengers said.

“I’ve been in the business 28 years. I’ve had it. That’s it.”

After activating the emergency exit and sliding down to the tarmac, Slater returned to pick up his bag and rode the AirTrain to his car parked the JetBlue lot, cops said.

* JK, Frank is truly the best boss ever
** We don’t actually have OMG Blog offices, but if we did I’m sure a giant inflatable slide would be the first item purchased to furnish it.

  1. Seriously, this is hilarious! I’d commend the guy over sending him to jail any day (which, unfortunately, they might be looking at doing).
But, uh, anyone notice that the word “the” appears in the last line of the quote twice in a row? It’s the same on Gawker. And, I’m thinking – hoping – that the NY times screwed up and meant to put 18 years instead of 28 on that one. But you’ve got to appreciate how they managed to print that he went home to bang his boyfriend in the second paragraph, lol

  2. I know just how he feels. I have been in retail for almost 20 years and people have changed. They are rude, obnoxious, vulgar and ghetto. He should have just told her off and then have that person arrested. He should just take leave and talk to some one, not be arrested. Put criminals in jail, not stressed out people.

  3. I want to have a hissy fit in my office and slide out the window, too! I work on the second floor, so it wouldn’t be as dramatic, but hell.

  4. He is definitely the man!! I just wish he had shoved that passenger down the slide. “As in, here, you want to get a head start in deplaning?”

  6. Please. As someone who’s been on a flight or two, this guy should get a medal and a round of applause. That is one thankless job, with no shortage of assjackals to bitch about some damn thing.

  8. So, he started stewarding at age 10?
