!! OMG, Mary Ann Lives: Armistead Maupin revisits Tales of the City !!

Wait, there’s a new Tales of the City book out? How did I miss this?
After formally retiring the long-running series in 1989, author Armistead Maupin has recently resurrected his crew of wacky San Francisco bohemians– all older, some wiser, and some much, much worse for the wear. But while I thought that the semi-recent Michael Tolliver Lives was more of a companion and coda than an official entry into the series, Mary Ann in Autumn, which came out at the beginning of November, is being billed as “A Tales of the City Novel.”
I just hope that Mary Ann in Autumn is better than Michael Tolliver Lives, because as a longtime Tales fan, the last one was so terrible and depressing that I almost wished I hadn’t read it. Joe. My. God. likes the new one, though, so there seems to be hope!

  1. Read it LOVED it, stands up well the the previous Tales books, and yes it’s much better than Michael Toliver Lives.
It was like finding old friends, enjoy!

  2. Only 60 pages in but it’s already way better than MTL.

  3. Thank you for the post-free Kindle version-can’t beat that! I’ve read the series at least 5 times-I can’t wait to dive into this one.
