Trandgender model Lea T. shared her story on Oprah yesterday, revealing more about her upbringing (her father is a Brazilian soccer player, her mother a very religious Catholic) and the struggle she went through as a child in Italy. Even now, as the muse to Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci, she still battles with feeling comfortable in her own skin. And although Lea’s scheduled for gender re-assignment surgery, she admitted to feeling scared about the inevitable pain.
What’s painful for me is watching Oprah‘s audience react so shockingly to this photo of Lea in French Vogue. Like, ok, you don’t see a naked transgendered woman everyday, but really? Really middle America moms? Grow up.
