If “I Wrote The Book” is Beth Ditto’s audition for pop super stardom, I’d say she’s got the part. The song is taken from The Gossip front woman’s excellent new solo EP produced by Simian Mobile Disco, which came out digitally last month but is due for a ‘proper’ release on March 8.
Filmed in London’s Grosvenor Hotel, “I Wrote The Book” mashes-up references from Madonna’s “Justify My Love” and “Vogue” videos into one glamorous concept that is highly conducive to multiple wig and outfit changes. Naturally.
This video is a breath of fresh dance music air. I love Beth Ditto and she did an amazing job of reinventing her Madgesty’s videos. You’re right, she’s totally on her way to pop super stardom. I can’t wait to see more from her!
