Hercules and Love Affair are preparing to release “Painted Eyes” as the second single from their Blue Songs album on April 18th, and to whet our appetites they’ve posted the b-side, a tech-y pop house cover of The xx song “Shelter”, online for your listening pleasure.
When we interviewed Hercules’ Andrew Butler last year he told us that he was particularly proud of this cover version when he recorded it because it marked a significant step in vocalist Kim Ann Foxman’s evolution as a house diva extraordinaire (we’re paraphrasing).
