Tracey Thorn has teamed up with her husband and long-time Everything But The Girl collaborator Ben Watt for a cover of The xx song “Night Time.” The track, which features Watt on guitar and backing vocals, will be included on Thorn’s upcoming EP of the same name alongside three new remixes of “Swimming,” off her 2010 solo album Love and Its Opposite.
The pop duo haven’t released new music in 10 years but were compelled to hit the studio together after The xx asked them to contribute to an album of cover songs from their self-titled 2009 debut. The project never came to fruition, but they managed to record a version of “Night Time.” Listen to it below:
Night Time is out on Nov. 1 digitally via Merge and on vinyl via Watt’s Buzzin’ Fly label.
In other Tracey Thorn news, the singer recently signed a book deal with UK publisher Virago to write “a kind of feminist outsider rock n roll autobiography.” It’s due out in 2013.
