  1. What would an 8 year old know about being gay or gay issues or Michele Bachman? Obviously the mother told him to do it. All he cares about his his nintendo DS (every little kid I know has one of those things jammed up to his/her face 24/7)

  2. Everyone needs to stop assuming that this mother made her child do this. He may have wanted to say it at home, and then when he got the chance he got shy. How many 8 year olds do you know that are comfortable with walking up to strangers in situations like this and speaking?

  3. I’m not sure I understand the heavy negatives on this one. Yes, the mom could be sort of stage-mothery. But the kid was in no way damaged, and Michele Bachmann was made to feel uncomfortable. I score this one in the “win” column.

  4. How pathetic – the mother should be charged with child abuse. Typical liberal – not brave enough to stand up for “herself” and has to hide behind an innocent child. Disgusting.

  5. Oh, thank goodness. I’m so relieved. I was going to post how I thought the jerk in this drama was the lesbian mother and not Bachman. I thought I’d get attacked for thinking more of a little kid than a political message (something that won’t be said of his mother). It’s nice to see compassion and responsible parenting reigns here!

  6. Yahoo! news is now running this story with the headline “Michele Bachmann meets 8-year-old gay activist at book event”. It’s clear his mother has made him do something he is uncomfortable with. Leave your kids out of politics. It was a difficult video to watch and gives Michele Bachmann more ammunition.

  7. of course, i love what the boy says, but using your kids for political reasons is not cool. he looks so uncomfortable. this video is creepy.

  8. Omg, That creepy stage mom bully is disguised as a promoter of equality!
She and Bachmann seem to deserve each other… Did that kid say whether or not his mommy was single?
“And she’s single” might be reserved for the bar.

  9. I really don’t know what to think about this. The message is right, but it seems that the kid didn’t really want to do this and the parent was just using him to make a point.
