!! OMG, John Waters wants you to support The Roxie !!
San Francisco's The Roxie, the oldest continuously running cinema in the United States and the second-oldest in the world, has recruited filmmaker John Waters as the face of its Kickstarter fundraising push. After 103 years in business, the independent theater is in the midst of transitioning to non-profit status and is apparently struggling to stay open.
In a campaign video, which you can view above, the Hairspray director pleads a typically blunt and persuasive case: "If you don't give them money, you're an asshole. Plain and simple."
