Normally I would agree with a certain amount of sticking to an original formula for a character by the creator. However, Stan Lee’s comments show that it isn’t out of loyalty for an original idea, but blatant homophobia and ignorance, there’s a huge difference, and it’s wrong.

I’m not sure we should be so quick to condemn the creator of a character for wanting the character to be portrayed a certain way.

I support Stan Lee. It is his work. If he dosnet want his creation turned gay respect that.

You can blame a lot of those restrictions for Spider Man on Stan Lee. When Andrew Garfield, who currently portrays Peter Parker/Spider Man in the movies, made the comment that he thought Spider Man should be bisexual and that the character of Mary Jane should be switched to a male love interest, Stan flipped out and said he was going to be making some phone calls to Sony and Marvel to put a stop to it.

Stan has made several other ignorant comments about the situation when interviewed at later dates, you can easily find them on the web, and they clearly show Mr. Lee’s prejudice and severely outdated way of thinking.
