1, 2 Freddy’s coming for you!

In 1985, Mark Patton starred in what later generations would dub ‘The gayest horror movie ever made,’ A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. The sequel made Freddy Krueger into a pop-culture icon, but Patton was never heard from again. After 30 years of living in near obscurity, Patton is back to talk about how his American dream became a nightmare during the homophobic AIDS crisis in Hollywood and why had to give it all up.

  1. I look forward to see this. The best role he had was in Come Back to the Five and Dime with Cher although he wasn’t in it very much.

  2. I well remember seeing NIGHTMARE II when it first opened in theaters and, as an openly gay man all my adult life, I couldn’t possibly fail to recognize the movie’s thoroughly gay slant (the shower scene with the coach, most of Mark Patton’s scenes, etc.). I LOVED it! This whole bizarre fracas prompted me to order online the Blu-Ray boxed set of all the NIGHTMARE movies. I look forward to seeing NIGHTMARE 2 in all its Blu-Ray glory. Meanwhile, bravo, Mark Patton, for a job very well done, and I also look forward to seeing “Scream Queen.”
