!! OMG, Loompaland: Pip & Pop X Romance Was Born SS’13 !!

1034701.jpg
Just as the pink pastel unicorn in ‘Charlie The Unicorn’ described Candy Mountain, Pip & Pop’s sugary landscapes are full “of sweets and joy and joyness”
Tanya Schultz -aka ‘Pip & Pop’- collaborated with fantasmical fashion design duo ‘Romance Was Born’ on their Spring/Summer 2013 collection entitled ‘Mushroom Magic’ showcased at Australian Fashion Week, not only constructing a pastel sugar landscape on the runway, but RWB incorperated digital print versions of ‘Pip & Pop’s creations into the final garments that hiked through Tanya’s sweetie gorging canyon.
Tanya spoke to DAZED following the show, about her childhood influences, her varied mediums and the sugar rush of working on the AFW presentation:

“I want to transport the audience to another place or time.”

You can see slides of her creations and the show after the jump and read the full interview HERE.

!! OMG, best before dates: Haruhiko Kawaguchi’s ‘Flesh Love’ !!

tumblr_m9jlqlzkI11rbya6zo1_1280.jpg
Japanese photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi invites couples that he meets in nightclubs back to his apartment where he puts them in plastic bags and vacuum packs them to ‘preserve their love’…eeeeeeeeeeeee !
For his project, ‘Flesh Love’, he’s photographed nearly 100 couples; with the men freaking out more often than the women do [I’m sorry why is everyone not just freaking out right now?]. Kawaguchi says that one guy even peepee’d in his vacuu-bag one time…girl if that was me, my photo would look like a NUTTY BROWN FOIE GRAS PÂTÉ PRESERVATION POUCH; I’d have shat my bag as soon as I heard the vacuum cleaner hOnk!
Follow the jump to see some of the charcuterie couples Haruhiko has sealed for freshness, some are NSFW, even if you work at Bulk Barn restocking the jerky tubs.

!! OMG, concrete [within] jungle: Tilda Swinton in ‘Stranger than Paradise’ !!

Screen Shot 2013-04-19 at 9.42.07 AM.png
Edward James was an English eccentric, poet, and surrealist collector who on inheriting a fortune from his railroad and mining mogul father fled England to grow orchids in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains of the Mexican Jungle in the 50s. In the early 60s a freak snowstorm [described by the locals as “white ashes”] destroyed his orchadian nursery.
Following this, James dedicated the following 20 years to creating a series of concrete sculptures inspired by the surrealist artists work that he had previously collected, set within his rainforest estate of Las Pozas.

“I have seen such beauty as one man has seldom seen.”_James Edwards

These sculptures included totem poles, hidden rooms, towers, and staircases to nowhere which were often deliberately left unfinished like ruins amongst the trees
After James’s death, in 1984, the ruinous effect took hold, as lack of funding meant cultivated plants died, and the animals in the menagerie had to be released as the sculptures soon became engulfed by the surrounding rainforest.
In 2007, the estate was acquired by a charitable foundation who set to restoring Edward’s sculptures.
Photographer Tim Walker and Tilda Swinton -herself no stranger to surrealism [see 1992’s ‘Orlando’ or any of the work between Swinton and her late friend Derek Jarman]- set out to explore James’ restored jungle estate and those surrealist muses which inspired it’s creation, in [my emaciated opinion] the most incredible editorial I myself can recall seeing in W Magazine, for their May 2013 Issue:

“I hadn’t realized…how incredibly ambitious it had been of James to create another world somewhere so remote…where nature can be so destructive. It’s the power of the dreamer.”_Photographer, Tim Walker

Follow the jump to explore the remainder of their fantastical collaborative mountainous concrete [within] jungle editorial.

!! OMG, don’t be sorry: logitech4873’s ‘I’m So Sorry’ !!

When Louis CK said “suck a bag of dicks”, I feel like this video gives a pretty good visualisation of what that might look like.
Norwegian Youtube user ‘logitech4873’ uploaded it a few days back, with the description:

“I’m so sorry for spending 62 hours rendering this shit. I really am”

Don’t be sorry, what’s more worth your while than rendering a pile of fleshy peens all shiny and glistening?
Like the FLESHERMAN emptying his net of a days catch of cock-fish!
The eel peen is the one I’m after, I thought it was going to fall forever, and it would satisfy the appetite of even the most ravenous of flesh-mongering bottom boys.

!! OMG, UMBRELLAGAANZAAA!: April showers with LN-CC & Tell NoOne !!

\ \\ \\ \ \ \ \ \ \\\ \ \ \\ \ \ \\\ \ \\ \\\\ \ \\ \\\ \ \\\\
As I sit here writing this, it is -of course- pissing down outside; it being April and all, and it gets me to thinking maybe I should just blooming buy myself an actual real working umbrella and stop using that one that I stole from Chuck-E-Cheese, which was obv left there because, erm, it doesn’t even serve the function of keeping the rain off or it’s other function of NOT turning inside out every time somebody even whistles near it or blows a kiss in a 5 mile vicinity of this cheap-ass crap-trap.
Maybe I should just go all out and buy a beautifully hand made Rugger/LN-CC brolly [below], or maybe I’ll just nab another cheap-o inside out practical joke brolly [above] from the carpark under Chuck-E’s…again
