!! OMG, where the wild things flare: Basement Jaxx’ ‘Back 2 The Wild’ !!

If I was a jungle manimal in Basement Jaxx’s new video ‘Back 2 The Wild’, I think I would be an electronic sloth because it took me a good week or so to get down from my DANGLEBERRY TREE to get round to posting this.
From the fellas who brought you ‘Where’s your head at?’, ‘Romeo’ and ‘Red Alert’, all around about the millennium bug era, they are definitely not my favourite dance producers, but they are so much fun live and their videos are always fun…floral facial, hair flares and BATIK BURKAS?!!

!! OMG, soak – it – up: ‘God Loves Capybaras’ !!

Entitled ‘長崎バイオパーク カピバラたらいの湯’ or ‘Capybara in woody washtub’, these cute mini BUNNY-HIPPOS are just chillin’ in the tub, some scented candles, a good book, Mariah’s ‘The Ballads’ on repeat; they have to do anything they can to chillax after that stressful ‘God Loves Capybaras’ photo shoot with Shirley Phelps, “oh hon, was that ever stressful?!”:

!! OMG, WITH PULP: Elliphant’s ‘Make It Juicy’ !!

You may recognise Swedish outfit Elliphant from last years ‘Down On Life’ video, a sort of t.A.T.u. threesome go on holiday to Iceland with their horny boisterous dog.
Well seems she’s been spending ‘long time’ with that dog of hers as she’s looking a little ‘in heat’ for her new video ‘Make It Juicy’. It doesn’t show any noodie bits but I would still say it’s not safe for Barbara -the cleaning lady at the office- to peak at over your shoulder whilst she’s dust busting the corner of your cubicle.
I, myself, often adopt a Jamaican lilt and tell people this; I say it to the girl at the coffee shop in the morning, I say it to the guy who does security at the automatic sliding doors at Walmart, hell, I even say it to the grey-haired lady who works at the fishmongers down the road…”300 grams of steelhead trout AAND MAAAKE EET JOOOOSYY”…she always does, it’s always gushing by the time I get that fish head home.

!! OMG, who wore it better?: Phillip Toledano’s ‘A New Kind of Beauty’ !!

1672297-slide-nikki2009.jpg
With a foreword from Detox herself Phillip Toledano describes the subjects of his new photography book, as “the vanguard of human-induced evolution,” as he depicts those who have gone to plastic surgical extremes as Grecian deities, draped and garlanded [sometimes in post-surgical bandages], as he captures them from their ‘best’ side:

“When we remake ourselves, are we revealing our true character, or are we stripping away our very identity?” Perhaps we are creating a new kind of beauty. An amalgam of surgery, art, and popular culture?”

Jump in to see a collection of his most beautiful and extreme photographs, definitely NSFW, unless you were the one who did the bodily reconstructions in the first place, in which case CHECK IT OUT, great work hon, very au naturel..such subtle beauty you done!

!! OMG, the vision of Divinity: Jeffrey Schwarz interview !!

Jeffrey Schwarz has directed over 100 films; documentaries about movies, films on films, covering the making as such classics as ‘Footloose’ [this amounts to several films, obsessed much?!], ‘Bewitched’ and ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.
His in-depth documentary on the queen of all queens, Divine, premiered this year at SXSW and features previously unseen photos and videos provided by Divine’s mother Frances Milstead who was still alive when Jeffrey was collecting together his material for what he describes as “the ultimate ‘it gets better’ story”.
Schwarz sat down with Afterelton to discuss his dream of one day making a Divine Biopic, his search for film-funding sugar-daddies or “donor angels”, and remembering that John [Waters] and Divine, were creating “movies for gay people who didn’t get along with other gay people”:

“Today’s queers need to remember people like Divine and the people on the fringes who made it easier for the rest of us.”

True dat!
You can read the whole interview HERE [I promise only a single mention of canine excrement] and you can browse the North American film screening deets, after the jump.
