!! OMG, UMBRELLAGAANZAAA!: April showers with LN-CC & Tell NoOne !!

\ \\ \\ \ \ \ \ \ \\\ \ \ \\ \ \ \\\ \ \\ \\\\ \ \\ \\\ \ \\\\
As I sit here writing this, it is -of course- pissing down outside; it being April and all, and it gets me to thinking maybe I should just blooming buy myself an actual real working umbrella and stop using that one that I stole from Chuck-E-Cheese, which was obv left there because, erm, it doesn’t even serve the function of keeping the rain off or it’s other function of NOT turning inside out every time somebody even whistles near it or blows a kiss in a 5 mile vicinity of this cheap-ass crap-trap.
Maybe I should just go all out and buy a beautifully hand made Rugger/LN-CC brolly [below], or maybe I’ll just nab another cheap-o inside out practical joke brolly [above] from the carpark under Chuck-E’s…again

!! OMG, pleating on the eye: Jaimee McKenna’s FW’13 CSM show !!

dezeen_Autumn-Winter-2013-collection-by-Jaimee-McKenna_9.jpg
In my local scabby school -non-negotiably- the girls had to wear these dumpy pleated skirts to school, and we had to wear the school tie which was stripy black and gold…very Versace…knot!
Well designer Jaimee McKenna obviously loved her pleated obligatory high school night-terror and has created her Central St Martins FW runway show around the humble pleated skirt; utilising herringbone pleats, Tudor-esque shoulder hugging ruffs and LAMBSWOOL CONCERTINA CALF-LENGTH numbers in royal and navy blues, the former derived from “an ultramarine shade first post-war French artist Yves Klein“.

“I found an image from a 1950s Vogue of an elaborate pleated skirt that had such structure and presence”

Follow the jump to see the remainder of the concertina collection, I just hope this was the only inspiration she took from school, and trust she wasn’t serving tinned bean mixes and POWDERED SCHOOL DINNER MASHED POTATO back stage!

Buzzfeed just fed us something that we are gagging on and we are now blowing up chunks of MING DYNASTY ROAMING TIGER CERAMIQUE!

Follow the jump to see such looks as an Oscar “small town aunt’s mantlepiece” vase dress and a Met Gala “just like the gifts you’d find on special offer in the back pages of a doll collectors magazine” gown!
Ooh girl, you Knowles they’re not wrong!

!! OMG, chin WANGing: Vogue Voices with Alexander Wang !!

Vogue Voices is a new series that delves into the stories, business ideas and aspirations of fashion designers.
First up is New York based Alexander Wang, who we featured in conversation with NYC rapper A$AP Rocky just last weekypoo.
Wang spoke to vogue of this very importance of music and musicians in his work, having recently explored the concept of a musical encore style runway show. He also discussed the importance of “elevating the everyday”, most exemplified by his T offshoot line which looks to make his brand more inclusive and affordable in order that he made derive the most joy from his work; seeing it on women, not just on the showroom floor.
Since Anna Wintour took the helm at American Vogue, I believe the magazine has lost a lot of the slower-paced sumptuousness which it once held, in favour of more gaudy advertisements, more pages with less information and romanticism between it’s covers; reading sometimes more like Heat Magazine than the larger glossier spreads of magazine like -say- Purple or W.
So it’s nice to see that they’ve taken a good few minutes of relatively candid and unedited video of Wang speaking of the importance of organic fluidity in the creative process, oh, and looking back on the one embarrassing aspect of his very first RTW collection…oops!

!! OMG, bitchy [Mc] Queen!: Ziggy phones Alexander !!

Earthling+PNG.png
A couple of weeks back we gave you a preview of the ‘David Bowie is…’ exhibition at the V&A, featuring Alexander McQueen’s shiny Union Jack coat from Bowie’s 1997 ‘Earthling’ album cover.
In honor of this, Dazed&Confused dusted off a phone conversation between Bowie and Mcqueen from back in the late 90s whilst Alexander was staying at the country home of friend and muse Isabella Blow.

Bowie
being arguably the most influential musician and McQueen respectively the most important fashion designer of our time, this interview is well worth a readypoo as Alexander discusses his disdain for the theatre -it “bores [him] shitless”-, walking around the streets in his sister’s bra and getting “the best blowjob ever” from a Parisian aristocrat.

“Bowie: Armani says, ‘Fashion is dead’.
McQueen: Oh, so is he… I mean, God…
Bowie: Now you sound like Versace…

McQueen: He’s close to dead…the man was a bloody window dresser. What does he know?
Bowie: Do you think that what he’s really saying is that maybe…

McQueen: He’s lost it…”

What a bitchy [Mc]Queen!
