!! OMG, Dior’s (likely) new designer: Marc Jacobs !!

Marc-jacobs-1.jpg

Oh snap! It looks like Marc Jacobs will soon be named John Galliano‘s successor at Dior. The designer’s legal representatives (read: business partner Robert Duffy) are said to be in talks with LVHM this week in Paris to hammer out the deal. Since Galliano’s anti-Semitic scandal in March, LVHM reportedly approached a number of notable names — including Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquière, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, Haider Ackermann and Hedi Slimane — to take over the Dior brand. If Jacobs leaves the Louis Vuitton helm, the most likely replacement for that position is Céline’s Phoebe Philo. Isn’t fashion musical chairs fun?!

!! OMG, pot meet the kettle: A&F wants The Situation to stop wearing its clothes !!

how-to-get-abs-like-the-situation.jpg
Abercrombie & Fitch is offering to pay The Situation and the rest of the Jersey Shore cast not to wear its clothes. The brand feels that the show is detrimental to its image, which it described as “aspirational.” Because, you know, shirtless dbags who ooze sexism has nothing to do with Abercrombie & Fitch…

!! OMG, ca-ching: ‘Glee’ cast to host Fashion’s Night Out !!

glee-vogue-fashions-night-out.jpg
I certainly see what Glee has done for gay and lesbian viability on TV, but what exactly has the show done for fashion to ready the cast for hosting this year’s Fashion Night Out? True, the cast wears clothes (oh, but imagine if they didn’t…) and most of Kurt’s sartorial choices are boundary-pushing (a kilt to prom, remember?), but that’s about all I got. We’re talking about FASHION here, not pedestrian mall wear. Am I missing something, Anna Wintour?

Conde Nast publishes some of the world’s most powerful and influential magazines (um, Vogue), so it’s little wonder that the elevators inside the company’s famed Times Square building house rather…interesting conversations. Like something out of The Devil Wears Prada, someone has started a Twitter account @CondeElevator to chronicle the ridic conversations being had by magazine editors. Two of the best so far: “Fashion Girl Fl 12: Do these shoes make me look like I have cankles? Fashion Guy: No, they just have really fat straps” and “[silence] [silence] [silence] [silence] [silence] [silence] [silence] [silence] Summer Intern: “Was that…?” Intern #2: “Yeah” #annawintour”
