!! OMG, the injustice: Scarlett Johansson cast as Janet Leigh !!

Scarlett_Johansson.jpg
How does Scarlett Johansson keep landing acting gigs?! Anyone can see the woman lacks talent — although I suppose most audiences don’t go to the movies to see ScarJo act. Sigh. Her latest opportunity to taint the silver screen will come when she plays Janet Leigh in Sacha Gervasi’s “Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho,” which reveals the story behind Hitchcock’s iconic 1960 horror film. Is it bad to at least take pleasure in the fact that Johansson’s character gets stabbed to death? Yeah, I said it.

Dinner conversation can be a pretty mundane affair unless you’re dining at Soho House with Glee creator Ryan Murphy, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon aaaaand Cameron Diaz, in which case chit-chat can lead to a promising new movie project. For everyone. Over dinner, the star-studded group came up with the idea for One Hit Wonders, a movie in which the women will play washed-up ’90s pop divas who form a super group to reboot their careers. On second thought, maybe this was all Gwyneth Paltrow’s idea…

!! OMG, trailer: “Bully” !!

Formerly known as “The Bully Project,” Harvey Weinstein‘s latest project, “Bully,” documents the epidemic many youth struggle to face in their schools and communities — although the film may not reach many of those kids if the MPAA’s current R-rating stands. The Weinstein Company plans to fight the rating, awarded because of profanity, by sending Weinstein to meet with the board along with Alex Libby, one of the kids featured in the movie. Heavy handed? Hey, if it works.

!! OMG, trailer: Chris Colfer’s ‘Struck by Lightning’ !!

Chris Colfer can now add script writer and movie star to his credit as TV’s favorite gay teen. The Glee star penned the latest forthcoming high-school dramedy, Struck by Lightning, in which he plays an overachiever struggling to reach the world beyond his hometown — only catch is, Colfer’s character recounts his tale from beyond the grave after being (you guessed it) struck by lightning. Allison Janney plays Colfer’s underachieving mother, so that at least should get your butt in the theater seat if nothing else about this movie will.

!! OMG, trailer: Damsels in Distress !!

If Whit Stillman‘s latest movie in 14 years, Damsels in Distress, is anything like the awesomely 90s teen movies of 14 years ago, then we’re in for a kooky (read: amazing) ride. Like Clueless and Jawbreaker before it (and Heathers before that), Damsels in Distress tells the story of Violet, the queen of an uptight clique who takes new girl Lily under her wing — only to result in her own demise. Or if not demise, high school heartache at the very least.
