!! OMG, another wedding movie (but this time with Kristen Wiig) !!

KRISTEN WIIG!!!!
That’s my usual level of excitement for all things Kristen Wiig, but her new movie Bridesmaids deserves an extra shot of enthusiasm because it also stars Maya Rudolph (of Shia and Maya) Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy (of Gilmore Girls fame) and a shirtless Jon Hamm. A little bit of laugh, a little bit of drool.

!! OMG, true words: “I’m disappointed in you Natalie” !!

natalie.jpg
Me too, Mr. Graffitist, me too. After her award-winning performance in Black Swan, the next dose of Natalie Portman to hit theaters was No Strings Attached. Uh, wasn’t that movie called Love & Other Drugs the first time it was made? Not that I saw either. I wouldn’t do that to myself.
A lackluster rom-com seems like a thoughtless move for Portman after the epic emotional climax that was Black Swan — certainly not the career-advancing choice of a potential Academy Award winner. Then again, after Halle Berry nabbed her Best Actress Oscar for Monster’s Ball, she made Catwoman. So, maybe these things just happen? After the jump, check out yet another graffitist’s changes to the No Strings Attached poster.

!! OMG, Oscar Bait: Logo takes on awards season !!

In the words of someone in a movie I saw once, “This is a marathon, not a sprint. I need you to hydrate.” With the Golden Globes already under our (Gucci) belt and the SAGs, Grammy’s and Oscars yet to come, it’s imperative that we stay in tip-top shape for the red carpet long haul. Personally, I’m opting for vodka.
But you might also try taking a weekly shot of Oscar Bait, a recap video series on Logo’s blog NewNowNext. Host Will Pulos is a shaggy-haired cutie with a goofy sense of humor, who makes an endearing attempt at an English accent. Even if I first get my Oscar news from the endless blogroll that is my life, I might still have to tune in just for him. *Cue my Oscar-worthy swoon

!! OMG, please support: Lesbian strip club documentary ‘Shakedown’ !!

Filmmaker Leilah Weinraub is looking for some support to finish her incredible six-year documentary film project, Shakedown:

SHAKEDOWN is the story of a black lesbian strip club in Los Angeles. The film is anchored in the stories of three women: Ronnie Ron, the creator and emcee of Shakedown, a large butch/stud lesbian and former Jehovah’s Witness; Egypt, a single mother, beauty pageant fanatic, and dedicated self – (re)inventor; and Jazmyne, the complicated and sometimes conflicted “Queen” of Shakedown. We go through the process of their labor with them and record what they do, and how they feel about what they are doing.

Please check out the Shakedown Kickstarter page and give if you can. There are some sweet “thank you” gifts to be had, including limited edition records, t-shirts, and even showgirl costumes!

!! OMG, meow: Anne Hathaway cast as next Catwoman !!

Waaaaaaay back in the day (read: 2008), Christopher Nolan said he wanted Cher to play Catwoman as “a vamp in her twilight years” for his next Batman movie, then tentatively titled The Caped Crusader. Well, we don’t always get what we want, because Cher gave her twilight vamp to Burlesque and the movie’s now called The Dark Knight Rises.
Instead of Lady Half Breed, Nolan cast Anne Hathaway to follow in Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer and Julie Newmar‘s pussy-steps as Catwoman. Also playing opposite Christian Bale will be Inception stand-out Tom Hardy as Bane, the roid-raging muscle villain you might remember as this.
And now that you know what to expect from the third installment of Nolan’s Batman series, you get to wait until July 12, 2012 to see it.
