!! OMG, isn’t your jumper just: DIVINE! James Long sweaters from Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection !!

dv1.jpg
A few months back I had the opportunity to catch I Am Divine, a documentary which tells the story of the life of Harris Glen Milstead AKA John Waters‘ muse, Divine. The theatre was packed, the film was great, and it painted the icon of bad taste as a very kind and loving man, which only furthered my interest in his legacy.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that UK designer James Long recently paid tribute to the iconic actor in his Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The hand-knitted sweaters can be purchased for just pennies over at Browns for anywhere from £665-£725 per piece. (Personally, I’d say it’s worth it. Especially if you happen to be dating a rich US senator, or you’re on that show the A-List. Dallas or New York. If you’re reading this — you should probably just buy two.)
Check out some additional runway shots of the sweaters along with many more looks from JamesF/W 2013 show after the jump.

!! OMG, P-Town Bear Week: some essentials !!

Bear Mania.jpg
This weekend, thousands of body hair-worshipping homos and their admirers will descend on Provincetown, Massachusetts for the gay resort mecca’s annual Bear Week. In addition to the usual circuit parties, T-Dances and nightly pizza and cruising (together at last!), a few !! omg blog !!-approved acts are performing at a series of alternative (naturally) events this year.
The man behind it all is local gay Mark Louque, the DJ/promoter who throws P-Town’s weekly Wednesday night jam FAG BASH. According to our sources within the international queer DJ underground, his Bear Week parties will offer regulars a chance to branch out from circuit music and “drink the lady-bear cool-aid.”
Pray, where doth lady-bear’s cup runneth over, you ask? Hereto is run-down:
Monday, July 15 – DJs Mark Louque and P-Play of Honey Soundsystem will be kicking the week off at Bearracuda, which will feature a performance by rapper The Big Dipper (a.k.a. Boston’s answer to The Notorious B.I.G.)
Wednesday, July 17 – Austin’s Filthiest CHRISTEENE will invade the stage at the Bear Week edition of P-Town weekly FAG BASH. Group Hug, BRDR & NATE, P-Play, JJ Booya and others are also on the bill. Check the trailer below.
Thursday, July 18 – This is the big one. London DJ collective Horse Meat Disco will play a four-hour set at Bearmania, the first Loque event to be included on the official Bear Week calendar. Full details via Facebook.

Provincetown Bear Week runs from July 13 to July 21.

!! OMG, a Q&A with Cakes Da Killa !!

CakesPromo_AlanaYolandePhoto.png
Cakes Da Killa describes himself as a “walking contradiction.” There’s a video online of his “hypothetical rap mother” Remy Ma spitting a 6 minute a cappella from a jail cell. She coughs out the term “nice nasty” (not to be confused with Michel’le’s RnB groove “Nicety“) which pretty much encapsulates what Cakes is all about: He’s a RAP PIÑATA who busts open on stage to reveal a torrent of bitchy verbal arrangements concerning your boyfriend, those that need pay to be gay, and them homophobic hypocrites.

In advance of his Toronto Pride performance this Friday at Fit Primpin at the Great Hall we interrupted Cakes’s busy baking schedule to chatter about poonany power, spirit animals and his favorite bad boy Draco Malfoy.

!! OMG, open house and garden: Poisonous Relationship’s ‘Garden of Problems’ !!

jamie_WEB_VERT2.jpg
It was -I believe- one Miss Azealia Banks who once was quoted as saying “bitches don’t want no problems,” and I would tend to agree if it weren’t for Poisonous Relationship’s record, which I guess one would say is an entire garden full of problems, and us bitches here at !! omg blog !! want all of them. We want to scurry into that garden in the middle of the night, uproot all of those problems and replant them in amongst our crazy-paving nightmare of a front yard.
Poisonous Relationship’s mid-fi “subverted [open] house” lives up to songwriter Jamie Crewe‘s admitted love of bongo drums and Hi-NRG gay vocal house.
BUTT caught up with Jamie near Elephant & Castle, where — amongst other hot topics — they spoke of his airy-fairy aquarian family, GONG-INDUCED HYSTERIA and Victorian ladies’ use of poppers to calm all such hysterics.
You can listen to PR’s track ‘Men’s Feelings’ down below there, and read the full interview and stream the entire Garden of Problems HERE.
Just a heads up, track number 3… Erm wowee!

!! OMG, want to party inside a giant homosexual disco sheep? !!

BAAAHs.jpg
Or, to be more precise, want to party inside a Big-Ass Amazingly Awesome Homosexual Sheep (a.k.a. BAAAHS) at the Burning Man Festival, that annual radical self-expression piss-up that invades Nevada’s Black Rock Desert at the end of August?
Well, it turns out you possibly can thanks to a group of intrepid San Francisco queens who have cooked up a plan to transform a school bus into a BAAAHS: a two-storey, 40-foot long geodesic dome that will be “part mutant vehicle, part penetrable sculpture, part socio-political statement, and part gay disco.” And all sheep.
To realize this ovis oasis, they are attempting to raise $10,000 via Kickstarter and appear to be well on their way to attaining that goal.
Why are they doing this? As is explained in the below Kickstarter video, the idea behind the BAAAHs is to bust open the insular world of gay “burners” by inviting everyone to enter a giant fluffy white sheep’s anus loaded DJs, dancers and performers booked by Honey Soundsystem’s Jacob Sperber.

And here are the men behind the BAAAHS:
