!! OMG, chin WANGing: Vogue Voices with Alexander Wang !!

Vogue Voices is a new series that delves into the stories, business ideas and aspirations of fashion designers.
First up is New York based Alexander Wang, who we featured in conversation with NYC rapper A$AP Rocky just last weekypoo.
Wang spoke to vogue of this very importance of music and musicians in his work, having recently explored the concept of a musical encore style runway show. He also discussed the importance of “elevating the everyday”, most exemplified by his T offshoot line which looks to make his brand more inclusive and affordable in order that he made derive the most joy from his work; seeing it on women, not just on the showroom floor.
Since Anna Wintour took the helm at American Vogue, I believe the magazine has lost a lot of the slower-paced sumptuousness which it once held, in favour of more gaudy advertisements, more pages with less information and romanticism between it’s covers; reading sometimes more like Heat Magazine than the larger glossier spreads of magazine like -say- Purple or W.
So it’s nice to see that they’ve taken a good few minutes of relatively candid and unedited video of Wang speaking of the importance of organic fluidity in the creative process, oh, and looking back on the one embarrassing aspect of his very first RTW collection…oops!

!! OMG, Juicey Cake-Tour: Cakes Da Killa’s ‘Goodie Goodies’ !!

From his ‘The Eulogy’ mixtape which we generously served up for you back in February, Cake’s Da Killa, takes a slice of his Eulogy cake and invites you to drink high tea with him in his video for ‘Goodie Goodies’.
He’s serving lip glossy emoticon FACE, Yinka Parris and Jeruah West as the PAINTER SISTERS, and a white rose bottom bloom as the table centre-piece.

“I’m gonna dip real slick in my dungarees”

!! OMG, what a frills: Jesse Ware’s ‘Imagine It Was Us’ video !!

Jesse Ware played [by all accounts] an amazing show this weekend in Toronto…I wouldn’t know, I was too busy eating out Mary Messhausen’s MESSY OUT-HAUSEN at Hotnuts with Produzentin and Shaun J. Wright.
As I sit here pulling stale Nutella chunks and corn kernels out of my dentures, I’m thinking maybe the gig looked a little something like Jesse’s new video for ‘Imagine It Was Us’, complete with disco ball tea-bagging, hooping earrings and those shark-eye diva bystanders at 1.51, serving platters full of peripheral disco side-eye all night long.

!! OMG, bitchy [Mc] Queen!: Ziggy phones Alexander !!

Earthling+PNG.png
A couple of weeks back we gave you a preview of the ‘David Bowie is…’ exhibition at the V&A, featuring Alexander McQueen’s shiny Union Jack coat from Bowie’s 1997 ‘Earthling’ album cover.
In honor of this, Dazed&Confused dusted off a phone conversation between Bowie and Mcqueen from back in the late 90s whilst Alexander was staying at the country home of friend and muse Isabella Blow.

Bowie
being arguably the most influential musician and McQueen respectively the most important fashion designer of our time, this interview is well worth a readypoo as Alexander discusses his disdain for the theatre -it “bores [him] shitless”-, walking around the streets in his sister’s bra and getting “the best blowjob ever” from a Parisian aristocrat.

“Bowie: Armani says, ‘Fashion is dead’.
McQueen: Oh, so is he… I mean, God…
Bowie: Now you sound like Versace…

McQueen: He’s close to dead…the man was a bloody window dresser. What does he know?
Bowie: Do you think that what he’s really saying is that maybe…

McQueen: He’s lost it…”

What a bitchy [Mc]Queen!

!! OMG, glitch please!: Flying Lotus for ‘Adventure Time’ !!

AT_lnd6plV3cM1ql201ao1_400.gif
When I first watched Cartoon Network’s ‘Adventure Time’, it was the first time since Pokémon that I’d wanted to “catch ’em all”; it’s poopie and witty and you will trip on your ballsack or tattyflaps whilst watching it…favourite character? oh the Japanese Korean flying worm unicorn girlfriend thingy!
Flying Lotus is the ultimate bedroom stoner musician so it’s not so surprising he just made a tune for the show entitled ‘About That Time/ /A Glitch is a Glitch’, I can just imagine him chomping down on Twinkies and Cheetos and watching back-to-back Adventure Time/Pokémon/Teletubbies re-runs.

I’m hoping Flying Lotus will soon collaborate with Michelle Obama on an single entitled ‘LYING FLOTUS’ with Michelle doing doo waps over a squidgy white house beat. Whilst we wait longingly for this to never happen you can join Princess Bubblegum in the Land of Ooo by downloading the episode that features the car-toon HERE.
