!! OMG, obsessed: Johnny Weir’s “Dirty Love” !!

weir.jpg
The holidays are a time for honesty, as in, “That Christmas sweater is hideous. Burn it.” And in the spirit of truthfullness, I’m not afraid to admit my obsession with Johnny Weir’s first single, Dirty Love, which drops Jan. 11. Other blogs will tell you the track is vapid and meaningless, but I say the song is like everything else Weir does: an outrageous, unapologetic shot of pop culture…chased with glitter.

!! OMG, lady can siiiiiiiiiiing !!

Truth be told, it’s always a little weird to see Megan Mullally without a bottle of vodka in her hand and an insult on the tip of her tongue. She played Karen Walker on Will & Grace so well that to watch her do anything else only elicits a slew of, “Um, Karen, why aren’t you wearing Prada pumps? Where’s Rosario? Where’s your crown of fake hair?!?” But when I found this clip of Mullally belting out I’ll Be Home For Christmas on an NBC special a few years ago, I suddenly didn’t miss the vodka so much — although a Rosie cameo wouldn’t have been so bad.

!! OMG, the Top 10 Gayest Songs of 2010 !!

top-10-gayest-songs.jpg
A wise gay man once said, ‘music is a language, can’t you read?’ (Or something like that). But within that language there is a nebulous network of dialects and accents, some of which sing louder to homosexual ears.

With that in mind, !! omg blog !! set about selecting the 10 gayest songs of the year. What exactly defines a song as ‘gay’? That’s a tough one. Many gay artists don’t want to be pigeonholed as gay, yet others aggressively pursue the gay market to build buzz. Gay anthems are generally defined by a wistful tone and perennial outsider point-of-view, and while that sentiment holds true in 2010, the whole outsider thing is a bit of a bummer (pardon the pun).

At any rate, gay listeners sometimes adopt a song as an anthem regardless of the artist’s intent or sexual orientation. We all need our anthems and so each of the following 10 songs are on this list because they filled our hearts with ineffable gay joy… and our heads with thoughts of peen.
