!! OMG, Hercules and Love Affair announce summer tour dates !!

hercules1.jpg
Disco pop inferno Hercules and Love Affair have announced a summer tour of North America that will kick off in Toronto on July 26. The band has yet to reveal further details of the tour, but judging from the chesty photo that Hercules main man Andy Butler recently posted on his blog (above), it’s probably safe to assume that he will give in to an overwhelming desire to completely remove his shirt, helicopter it around the stage, and then encourage all the men in the audience to follow suit.
Can’t wait! Full list of tour dates after the jump!

!! OMG, She Likes the Pole and The Hole: Vanessa Carlton !!

Freshfaced early ’00’s songstress Vanessa “Not Michelle Branch” Carlton, whose song was a big hit on the radio the summer I lived with Frank on 108th Street (omg we were such babies! Did I even have pubes?! Now I’m depressed 🙁 !), has announced that she’s “makin’ her way downtown” indeed– all the way down to the cooch part of the city!
That’s right: Ms. Carlton has come out as a “proud bisexual.” That means she likes both penises and vaginas. Oh, wait, I’m sorry– it means she loves a person for the person, not for their private parts. Or something like that. Well I don’t f*cking know, don’t look at me!
Wait, who’s Vanessa Carlton again? Oh, that’s right… she sings that song about the– you know. Right? I remember that one!
Happy Bisexuality Day, Vanessa! Here’s the free publicity. Use it wisely– you can only come out once! (Actually you could probably make it work two or three times with the help of a good publicist, but anyway.) Congratulations I guess.

!! OMG, a Q&A with Big Freedia !!

freedia.jpg

Earlier this week we introduced you to New Orleans bounce music, a style of call-and-response rap that often inspires women to contort into impossible positions and jiggle their generous booties. Over the past few years the mainstream American media has caught on to this underground club scene thanks to a flamboyantly gay sub-genre known as sissy bounce.

Today we bring you an interview with the queen diva of bounce Big Freedia, who started out as a back-up performer for her friend Katey Red, the first openly gay rapper in New Orleans. Freedia is one of the most respected rappers in the game, performing up to six nights a week at block parties, hip-hop clubs, gay clubs and even in her autobiographical bounce musical “Catch That Beat”.

This month she’ll embark on short North American tour and perform at her hometown Gay Pride for the first time ever. For a sense of the ass-tastic mayhem that Freedia unleashes in the club, watch the video for “Azz Everywhere” and then read our Q&A after the jump!
