!! OMG, Gaga gets Goldfingered !!

The producers of the next James Bond movie (which will supposedly feature the decidedly un-Pussy Galore-ish Rachel Weisz as its Bond girl, um wha?) are trying to snag Lady Gaga to sing the theme song. Well, she’s no Carly Simon, but she’ll do.
JK! I’m obviously shitting myself with joy, so hold the death threats please.

!! OMG, Single Ladies do Motor City !!

Just when you thought Lady Gaga had banished Miss Beyoncé to cameo appearance irrelevancy, something comes along to remind you that Single Ladies will never die on YouTube! Here it gets a Motown reworking, and it’s kinda magical.
Thanks to Erin M. for the tip!

!! OMG, Erykah Badu takes it all off in “Window Seat” video !!

The official video for Erykah Badu‘s new single “Window Seat” came out on Saturday and it’s sparked a lot of chatter on Twitter and in the press. Inspired by this Matt & Kim video, Badu shot it in a single-take, guerilla-style in Dallas’ Dealey Plaza, the site of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. “Window Seat” opens with Erykah pulling up in a 1965 Lincoln Continental as a radio broadcast from 1963 describes the final moments leading up to the assassination. She then gets out of the car and walks toward Elm St. and the book depository, removes all of her clothes and collapses next to the grassy knoll.
Following the premiere, Badu led a discussion on her Twitter feed about the concept of groupthink and how individual expression can lead to character assassination – especially relevant these days as the word ‘groupthink’ has figured into many a news article about the healthcare debate in the United States. As a blog that encourages both nudity and inspired social discussion, we highly recommend “Window Seat”.

!! OMG, a Q&A with Alison Goldfrapp !!

gf_headfirst1000.jpg
Earlier this week, British pop duo Goldfrapp released a new album called Head First, their fifth in 10 years. If you’ve been following the career of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory for that long, you’ll know that they have a tendency to shift musical gears with each new release.

Goldfrapp describes the album’s nine songs, which took six months to write and produce, as unabashedly optimistic and upbeat. Indeed, Head First is a shimmering, euphoric take on ’80s stadium pop, with big choruses, propulsive beats and dreamy, disco-influenced piano and string arrangements.

A few weeks ago, we rang up Alison Goldfrapp in London to chat about the positive vibes she’s sending off these days, her love of Olivia Newton-John, Prince and Chrissie Hynde, the unusual amount of press attention her personal life has received lately, and her experience songwriting with Christina Aguilera. Read the Q&A after the jump!
