The Vice President looked back on the perspective his father instilled in him at an early age regarding equality, and made a speech acknowledging that there are still homophobes in America, and most of them are running for President.
The future politician was just 17, riding in a car with his dad in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
“He was driving me into town… dropping me off so that I could run in and get an application to be a lifeguard…” he recalled.
“And we’re at a light, before it changed and I was about to get out and I looked to my right and there were two very well-dressed, conservatively dressed men, who embraced each other and kissed and walked in different directions—to their jobs, I assume.”
Given it was 1959, and Biden’s father, Joe Sr., was a used car salesman, what happened next was surprising.
“And I turned and looked at my dad. And I’ll never forget what he said. He said, ’Joey, they’re in love with each other. It’s that simple.’ And it’s always been that simple for me.”

Congrats, Randy Boehning! You’re up next on the “Hypocritical conservative anti-gay politician” news story of the week!
A North Dakota lawmaker who voted against a bill that would protect LGBT residents from housing and employment discrimination has been outed publicly by a man who told the press the politician had sent him a photo of his penis and sexually explicit messages through the gay dating app Grindr.
The legislator, Rep. Randy Boehning, R-Fargo, 52, confirmed sending the pic and messages such has “What’s up tonight sexy?,” under the alias Top Man! to 21-year-old Dustin Smith, who had forwarded them to local news site The Forum. The outlet posted a news story about it on Monday.
“That’s what gay guys do on gay sites, don’t they?” the outlet quoted Boehning as saying on Saturday. “That’s how things happen on Grindr. It’s a gay chat site. It’s not the first thing you do on that site. That’s what we do, exchange pics on the site.”
At least that last part wasn’t a lie. He’s definitely got us there! Welcome to the dark side Randy! Now, join us in our celebratory parade of sin and sodomy! It’s, like, so much fun.
Politicians keep it creepy in this cut up made by CNN which rivals the original Too Many Cooks video. Check it out above!
They EXIST! Yes, Conservative gays! People who favour the party that chooses to oppress them — they walk amongst us!
Check out this reporter who used Grindr to track down the gays during the CPAC convention above! Interesting.
“I’m very proud of being a woman, and as a woman, I don’t even like the word feminism because when I hear that word, I associate it with women trying to pretend to be men, and I’m not interested in trying to pretend to be a man,” Evangeline said. “I don’t want to embrace manhood, I want to embrace my womanhood.”
Watch the internet explode in 5, 4, 3, 2, …
Yeehaw! Just when you thought it was easy to finger-point at Russia and Uganda, this past weekend, Republicans in the Michigan Statehouse USA successfully passed a “license to discriminate” bill that would give anyone the right to refuse service to LGBT people if it “conflicted with their religious beliefs.
The broadly written Religious Freedom Restoration Act would allow, for example, an EMT to refuse emergency treatment to a gay person or a pharmacist to refuse to refill HIV medication, because God decreed gays and lesbians should be put to death.
The measure is similar to one in Arizona that even right-wing governor Jan Brewer thought went too far and vetoed.
As The New Civil Rights Movement points out, the act is so broad it would let a Catholic high school refuse to hire a Muslim janitor, and a DMV clerk deny a new driver’s license to someone who is divorced.
Gross! Lets hope this bill gets knocked down and taken back asap!
Invited to talk about the “scourge of harassment in the digital age,” Lewinsky, 41, opened her emotional speech with, “My name is Monica Lewinsky – though I’ve often been advised to change it.”
“Overnight I went from being a completely private figure to a publicly humiliated one,” she said. “I was Patient Zero, the first person to have their reputation completely destroyed worldwide via the Internet.”
