Oklahoma State Rep. Sally “gays are more dangerous than terrorists” Kern caused quite an uproar last week with her anti-gay tirade that was recorded and put on YouTube (listen above if you haven’t already heard it).
Yesterday a high school student who lost his mother in the Oklahoma City Bombing responded to Sally in a very thoughtful letter, which was picked up by several local news stations. I know it’s a little out of character for us to post anything longer than a couple paragraphs, but I think this letter says all the right things and should be seen by as many people as possible.
Please read it after the jump. Afterwards, if you are moved to sign the Victory Fund’s open letter to Sally Kern, you can do so here.
We all expected it, but it will be official in about an hour. New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will resign today at 11:30am following his alleged involvement with a high-priced hooker. Sad, sad, sad.
Just the other night I watched FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO, a documentary about Christian families with gay children. It was quite nice and hit a few heartstrings. The most interesting parts were about what The Bible actually says about homosexuality and how little there really is that is against it – when read in the context of the time it was written.
Anyway, mostly it was about some Christians not understanding homosexuality and not learning about it until they had a child who was gay. In the end all of the families opened themselves up to their children and some went so far as to become activists for gay rights.
So when I came across the above video of Barack talking about the same issues as For The Bible Tells Me So I thought that was pretty great and nice to see a leader who could retain their faith and views while being progressive. Obviously the problem isn’t in religion itself, it’s in blind faith.
I don’t claim that Obama is better than Hillary, or vice versa, but it’s nice to hear this rather than “I’m a Christian, and The Bible says homosexuality is wrong”.
On March 30th there will be a rally at the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas to let members of the very very very very very anti-gay “church” know that we won’t take it lying down. Well…I will…but…you know what I mean.
The Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka, Kansas, is a hate group masquerading as a Christian church…The time has come to turn the tables. Let us all gather in one place, at one time to (peacefully) show Phelps and his church that freedom of speech works both ways.

Thanks to Darrell for the tip.
Okay so I don’t really completely understand the American campaign/electoral process, but I know today is important.
According to the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, the gay vote is split.
So if basing your choice upon gay issues doesn’t give you a clear choice for a winner, have a look at THIS NY TIMES article that breaks down Barack and Hillary as Mac or PC.
So then would Huckabee be considered an abacus? NERD JOKE!
