!! OMG, the times, they are a changin’: The Disney Channel’s ‘Good Luck Charlie’ Debuts Episode That Features 2 Lesbian Moms !!

rs_600x329-140127104716-good_luck_charlie.jpg
Sunday’s episode of The Disney Channel‘s “Good Luck Charlie” emphasized a diverse addition to the neighbourhood. The episode, “Taylor Has Two Moms” features a pair of lesbian moms and according to TheBlaze:

A Disney Channel spokesperson told the publication that the episode was “developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.”
When Amy told Bob that Taylor’s parents would also be joining them while the girls played, the two began debating Taylor’s mother’s name. Both said they had individually met the woman, but while Amy said her name was Susan, Bob remembered meeting a parent named Cheryl.
Since they weren’t together at the time of the interactions, the two remained at odds.
When the doorbell finally rang and Taylor arrived with her mothers, Charlie’s parents realized that they were both right: Susan and Bob were, indeed, speaking about two separate women.
“Taylor has two moms,” Bob said after answering the door.
“Nothing gets past you, Bob,” Amy said.

Of course, One Million Moms (AKA One Million Muffin Tops), the same group who famously stage a failed boycott against JC Penney after they chose Ellen as their spokesperson — are pissed about this! They’re already making a stink about the couple appearing on the show and say:

“Just because something may be legal or because some are choosing a lifestyle doesn’t make it morally correct. Disney should stick to entertaining instead of pushing an agenda. Disney decided to be politically correct versus providing family-friendly programming.”

We think this is awesome and a total step in the right direction! A great example of acceptance to set for such young viewers! Nice one, Disney! Check out the clip below:

!! OMG, dat chew Camilla?: Transvestite Artist Grayson Perry honoured by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace !!

“The idea that rebellion is at the margins of society – that’s false, it’s far more interesting to be mischievous from the centre.” – Grayson Perry

Turner Prize-winning artist, Grayson Perry, known for his ceramic vases and cross-dressing (those two always go hand-in-hand), was honoured by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace this past week for “30 years of hard graft” (that means 30 years of hard work in British speak, y’all!).

Perry worked a very Camilla Parker Bowles-esque look in a midnight blue dress and matching fitted jacket with a wide brimmed black-hat with some ostrich feathers for flare! Perry himself called the outfit very “Italian mother-of-the-bride”.

!! OMG, life’s a game: HabitRPG !!

habitrpg3.jpg
If you ask anyone who has spent countless hours leveling up and doing side quests in RPG games like Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft whether the time was well-spent, at best you would probably get a shrug of the shoulders. The impulse to play these games is often so embedded that the only conscious decision RPG gamers really get to make is when to stop.
What if you could channel your RPG compulsion into organizing something other than your character’s equipment and stats? HabitRPG has set out to apply everything you love about these games (leveling, quests, character building, character classes, pets, guilds, boss fights, etc.) to real life. Gain experience for positive tasks like exercising or finishing a work project. Lose health for bad habits like eating too much pizza.

People are using HabitRPG to quit smoking, be more creative, exercise more, call their mom more often, and generally be better. Give it a try and level up your real self a bit.

!! OMG, live from New York: Sasheer Zamata to be the first black female SNL cast member in years !!

Baguetting_www.pixanews-1.jpg
Comedian/actor Sasheer Zamata is set to be Saturday Night Live‘s first black female cast member since Maya Rudolph left 5 years ago.
Secret auditions were held last month to fill the “almost-offensively” missing demographic after SNL came under scrutiny for the lack of a black female presence within the cast. Zamata‘s first live episode will air on January 18 when Drake hosts and takes on the duties of musical guest.

!! OMG, do you like green eggs and HAM?: Scientists create glow-in-the-dark pigs using jellyfish DNA !!

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 1.12.22 PM.png
If you’re planning your next midnight truffle hunt, or an all-day breakfast buffet rave, then you’re in luck this week as scientists were able to isolate a fluorescent protein in jellyfish DNA and inject it into pig embryos! FINALLY! Here I was, waiting for them to cure cancer, and instead we have glow-in-the-dark piglets.
But in all seriousness, researchers do have good reason for their studies and say:

“The technique is being developed to help create medicines and therapies for patients in a more cost-effective manner. Eventually, genetically engineered animals might be used to produce beneficial enzymes for such maladies as hemophilia. “[W]e can make those enzymes a lot cheaper in animals rather than a factory that will cost millions of dollars to build,”

The piglets are expected to live full lives (unless they get turned into glow-in the dark bacon, which could also be pretty rad — sorry, but you have to admit).
