!! OMG, RAISING THE ROOF: The New World of Lina Bo Bardi !!

Created by
Architect Ouida Angelica Biddle
, Artist Nicolau Vergueiro and
animated by Joao Rosa The New World of Lina Bo Bardi illustrates excerpts from late Italian/Brazilian Architect and Architectural Theorist Lina Bo Bardi’s Bela Criança ahead of a MoMA retrospective, supposedly in the works.

Described by the creators as a “commercial for the brain of Lina Bo Bardi” the video -beginning with a walking double-bum creature that EATS AND SHATS FARTITECTURE- illustrates cross-design-disciplinary Bo Bardi’s personification of Brazilian architecture as a child in need of nurturing and her aversion to cliché, routine and that misogynistic modernism that “[demoralizes] the spirit of new architecture.”

“She was unafraid to be childlike and vulgar, yet also unafraid to lead with boldness in a foreign country. Her work transcends institutional permission and speaks right to a space of fantasy.” __video creators Ouida Angelica Biddle & Nicolau Vergueiro.

!! OMG, death drop dead: ‘Little Boy Serves for your Nerves’ !!

This video is called “Little Boy Serves for your Nerves” when really it should be called “Small Brown Angel Serves to Fray your Nerves” because my nerves are just about in tatters when I watch this.
I keep dying [as my friend Max would say] and I can’t even get through the video; before he does his first death-drop I’ve already death dropped to the floor [in the literal dying sense] and I’m dead…and then I wake up and he’s still twirling and whacking in front of my eyes and so I just figure I’m in heaven because this is what an angel would be looking like.
If I owned the oversized trackpants no-shoes look the way sHe’s owning the oversized trackpants no-shoes look I would wear that look to work, to the club, to church, to weddings, ain’t no place I wouldn’t LOOK GOOD IN THAT GOOD LOOK !

!! OMG, snot your average opera: Michiko Nitta and Michael Burton’s ‘Algae Opera’ !!

25555.png
Girl, you got something in your hair !
A night at the Opera is such a civilized affair: get dressed up, drinks at some swanky bar, then swoop on over to the concert hall for a night of the most exquisite dramatic musical fare, a story of lost love, a musical drama about a fall from grace perchance ?
Well, at The Algae Opera, some chick sings at you loudly, then feeds you sea-snot that she breathed all over.
As an experiment in alternative food sources and biotechnological advancements The Algae Opera singer [Louise Ashcroft] feeds the plant-like organism musical carbon dioxide through tubes, where variations in pitch and volume produce nuances in the taste of the growing algae from bitter to sweet, i.e. starter or dessert.
Sea-snot parfait is snot my idea of a civilized operatic treat at all !

!! OMG, SELECTION COLLECTION: Liz Ciokajlo’s ‘Natural Selection’ heels !!

dezeen_Natural-Selection-by-Liz-Ciokajlo_19.jpg
The recipient of the Jimmy Choo Dato Cordwainers Award, Liz Ciokajlo is a footwear designer based in London with a furniture design background.
Her shoe collection entitled Natural Selection uses mixed fibrous materials with bio-resin, binders and latex to allow molding and sculpting of continuous pieces that form-fit the foot.

“Innovative materials used in the product and furniture industries were “borrowed” and applied to fashion footwear raising further challenges as to what materials are acceptable, in a trend lead fashion context.”

Ciokajlo experimented with coconut HUSK, FLAX and HEMP materials, combined with WOOL felt linings and 3D-printed hollow heels to give the collection “a softer…more feminine…approach”. You can see several pairs from the collection plus materially-deconstructed layouts of the shoe components after the jump.
