“Josef was determined to make his own statement so we went to the car and with pencil and his sketch pad, he made up his own little sign that reads ‘GOD HATES NO ONE.’ Those people are scary but he stood strong, was respectful and stood by his convictions. He will be a good man, I have no doubt.”

!! OMG, movin’ on up: Majority of Americans now find gays ‘morally acceptable’ !!

gay-wedding-04.jpg
A landmark majority of Americans — 54 percent according to a new Gallup “Values and Beliefs” poll — consider LGBT relations morally acceptable. That’s up from 38 percent in 2002. And while that creates a new “normal” for how the US regards gays and lesbians, are we really looking for approval on whether or not we’re “morally acceptable”?

!! OMG, bigger than Obama: The significance of yesterday’s endorsement !!

obama-supports-same-sex-marriage.jpg

The very riskiness of what Mr. Obama did — some commentators were invoking Lyndon B. Johnson’s embrace of civil rights in 1964, with all the attendant political perils — made it hard to understate the historic significance of what took place at the White House on Wednesday.

“If you are one of those who care about this issue, you will not forget where you were when you saw the president deliver those remarks,” said Chad Griffin, the incoming president of the Human Rights Campaign, a gay advocacy group. “Regardless of how old you are, it’s the first time you have ever seen a president of the United States look into a camera and say that a gay person should be treated equally under the law. The message that that sends, to a young gay or transgendered person struggling to come out, is life changing.”

!! OMG, mother knows best: Cher surprises Chaz at the GLAAD Media Awards !!

Wearing what is likely the largest of her afro wigs, Cher showed up at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles this weekend as the surprise presenter for her son Chaz Bono, who was being honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award. She makes a heartfelt and off-the-cuff speech in which you can tell that a) Cher’s still got her crazy and b) she still loves her son… like crazy.
