Liquid Sky was the touching tale of an invisible UFO in search of some heroin that came across a New York City apartment in the 1980’s, and decided to toy with a New Wave drug dealer and her androgynous fashion model lover. Well, it looks as if the cult film is about to see some new life with a sequel!
Director Slava Tsukerman says that actress Anne Carlisle will reprise her role as “Margaret/Jimmy”, who gave us such pure feminist poetry as:
So I was taught that I should come to New York, become an independent woman. And my prince would come, and he would be an agent, and he would get me a role, and I would make my living waiting on tables. I would wait – till thirty, till forty, till fifty. And I was taught that to be an actress, one should be fashionable, and to be fashionable is to be androgynous. And I am androgynous not less than David Bowie himself. And they call me beautiful, and I kill with my cunt.
Aw! That’s really about the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard! But where will the film be headed after we last saw Margaret? And will she still live in New York? According to Tsukerman:
I can tell you it’s about Margaret coming back from outer space today, and what’s happening here. I had a lot of suggestions to shoot it elsewhere because it’d be much cheaper, but I think for most audiences around the world, it’s a quintessential New York story. So it would be wrong to move it out of New York. But in doing research for the subject, I discovered that the most outrageous nightlife moved from New York, it’s not in New York anymore. Where is it now? Places you’d expect least of all, like Germany and the Czech Republic. I think every year in Leipzig they have thousands of people in make-up and all that, for a big event.
We think it’d be wise for Margaret to move on from New York City considering the changes in nightlife since the 1980’s — Berlin would be a better choice! But what we really wanna know is WHERE WILL ADRIAN BE? Gurl bettah dust off that old rhythm box and haul her crazy ass back on that stage! We need an ENCORE!
