!! OMG, It’s happening again! 90’s teen slasher ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ to be rebooted !!

Sony is set to reboot the 90’s horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer!
Yes — they will soon be in search of someone to cast as the next Jennifer Love Hewitt or himbo Ryan Phillipe when Oculus co-writer/director Mike Flanagan takes the reigns and adapts the 1973 Lois Duncan book for the second time!
Sources are stating that the remake is a high priority for Sony and is set for a 2016 release! Are you looking forward to a new version? Or should Hollywood come up with some new ideas and are you just absolutely gagging at another remake?

!! OMG, John Carpenter’s ‘Escape From New York’ to be remade, Hunnam, Bernthal, and Stevens reportedely front-runners for Snake Plissken !!

Since every Brooklyn resident has decided to fill my Facebook feed with posts about how “Brooklyn is OHVER!!!” and that there’s a Starbucks across from their favourite independent coffee shop that their friend opened while gentrifying Brooklyn 10 years ago, and people like Patti Smith are telling artists to stay the hell away from NYC because it’s not the city it once was — what better time to capitalize on the backlash against the city, than to reboot ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!?
That means that work horse Snake Plisskin is coming back! But WHO could possibly fill the legendary, studly Kurt Russell‘s shoes!?
According to Starlog, Silver Pictures narrowed the candidates down to three studs: Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy“), Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead“) and Dan Stevens (“The Guest“).
Starlog has also said that the film will be:

“more team-based, as Snake Plissken traverses through a treacherous New York landscape with a rogues gallery of criminals who look to leave the island-turned-prison in exchange for the rescue of the captured U.S. President.”

All I know is they better keep Carpenter‘s original soundtrack! If they end up using Linkin Park, I’m really gonna lose it.

!! OMG, grab the Vick’s vapor rub, hon! ‘Rainbow Brite’ is getting a reboot !!

Ravers rejoice! It seems as if the beloved Hallmark animated television series from 1983, Rainbow Brite, is getting remade! Yes — you will no longer have to field those answering machine messages about paying those VHS overdue fees from your local (and last) video store because you still have yet to return those hardshell cases!

It wasn’t enough that Hollywood had to go and sully Jem And The Holograms with a reboot, now it’s gotten its grubby paws on Rainbow Brite–at least, if Emily Osment‘s Twitter and Instagram are to be believed. The Hannah Montana star (and younger sister of Haley Joel Osment) tweeted a picture of a script for the pilot, saying she’s “very stoked to be back doing some animation,” and indicating that she’s playing the title character. Little else is revealed in the tweet other than the name of the episode, “Cloudy With A Chance Of Gloom,” suggesting that ol’ Murky Dismal is back up to his cloudy tricks again.

No word yet as to which network will be hosting the new version of the show, but keep your cable bills paid, and soon your comedowns will be that much easier!

!! OMG, grab the tin foil: “Liquid Sky 2” is about to invade planet Earth !!

Liquid Sky was the touching tale of an invisible UFO in search of some heroin that came across a New York City apartment in the 1980’s, and decided to toy with a New Wave drug dealer and her androgynous fashion model lover. Well, it looks as if the cult film is about to see some new life with a sequel!
Director Slava Tsukerman says that actress Anne Carlisle will reprise her role as “Margaret/Jimmy”, who gave us such pure feminist poetry as:

So I was taught that I should come to New York, become an independent woman. And my prince would come, and he would be an agent, and he would get me a role, and I would make my living waiting on tables. I would wait – till thirty, till forty, till fifty. And I was taught that to be an actress, one should be fashionable, and to be fashionable is to be androgynous. And I am androgynous not less than David Bowie himself. And they call me beautiful, and I kill with my cunt.

Aw! That’s really about the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard! But where will the film be headed after we last saw Margaret? And will she still live in New York? According to Tsukerman:

I can tell you it’s about Margaret coming back from outer space today, and what’s happening here. I had a lot of suggestions to shoot it elsewhere because it’d be much cheaper, but I think for most audiences around the world, it’s a quintessential New York story. So it would be wrong to move it out of New York. But in doing research for the subject, I discovered that the most outrageous nightlife moved from New York, it’s not in New York anymore. Where is it now? Places you’d expect least of all, like Germany and the Czech Republic. I think every year in Leipzig they have thousands of people in make-up and all that, for a big event.

We think it’d be wise for Margaret to move on from New York City considering the changes in nightlife since the 1980’s — Berlin would be a better choice! But what we really wanna know is WHERE WILL ADRIAN BE? Gurl bettah dust off that old rhythm box and haul her crazy ass back on that stage! We need an ENCORE!

!! OMG, come out to play some more: New WARRIORS fan trailer makes us crave the real thing !!

Yesterday was the 35th Anniversary of Walter Hill‘s 1979 classic The Warriors. It’s not often that we see a trailer for another shitty remake that actually excites us, but the way this is shot, the colour, the styling — shows that it might not be such a bad idea if placed in the hands of director Ram Bhat. Check out the WARRIORS fan remake trailer below, and find the rest of the beautiful new concept movie posters (like the one above) after the jump!
Would you be excited to see the return of this full-length classic?
