Nadezhda “Nadia” Tolokonnikova and Maria “Masha” Alyokhina
are the brave, recently released members of Pussy Riot who have made headlines around the world for standing up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and spreading the dismal truth about their Russian government.
New footage shows Russian cossacks attacking the girls with whips, pepper-spray and last but not least — their fists — during a set-up for one of Pussy Riot‘s non-violent protests at a public plaza in Sochi. We’re not sure they could have asked for a better backdrop to highlight the attacks, as the Sochi 2014 logo hovers in the back the entire time. Check out the disturbing (NSFRussia) attacks below.

Michael Lambert is the 27-year-old Olympic snowboarder from Toronto who was talking to reporters, and at the end said “Really? No controversial questions?” Bold! Particularly for someone still competing IN the games IN Sochi!
Well, that wasn’t all! Lambert unleashed a whole lotta his maple sass on the topic of the $51-billion Games!
“I am all for the purest form of sport in which all other distractions are shed with no consideration given to anything but your own process,” Lambert said. “At the same time, to act like there aren’t a lot of other very controversial things at play here, it’s ignorant. It’s not real, it’s not a reality. It’s not my reality. Just because I am a part of (the Games) doesn’t mean I ignore it. These things are real and they still exist, Lambert said. “We just don’t see them because we are inside the bubble. Which is the goal — and that’s fair. We are here to compete and they want to keep us completely detached from all of that. But that stuff is still real. That controversy is still real.”
Lambert also slapped Putin square across the jaw with some hot quotes like this:
“The only people on earth who are probably going to hold perfect (winter) Games are people from Scandinavia,” he said. “They are going to be green, sustainable, be under budget and all of the buildings and services are going to be used afterwards. A perfect Games isn’t someone who blows the budget through the roof for no reason, has people suffer, shuts people up. How is that a perfect Games? Spends ungodly amounts of money and then we are all going to watch it rot over the next 10 years.” When asked for further comment, Snowboard Canada said Lambert had said what he wanted to say, and was focusing on competition.
WURK! Dats ryte bitch! Own the podium.

t.a.T.u, the pop duo who brought you the lesbionic dance hit “All The Things She Said”, which reached No. 7 in the UK charts, and No. 1 in the US dance charts — are set to perform at the Sochi 2014 Olympics Opening Ceremony!
This seems a bit strange, considering Russia’s stance and laws against homosexuality. Especially considering the fact that t.a.T.u’s lyrics and video for “All The Things She Said,” were suggestive of homosexuality and bisexuality (The chorus even sings “I’m losing my mind. I need her.”).
t.a.T.u posted on their Twitter that they’d be performing at the opening ceremony but later deleted that shit. They’ve said nothing about it since, and State television Channel One, whose producers and directors are staging the ceremony, have also declined to comment. According to the Wall Street Journal though:
Details of the opening ceremony are a closely guarded secret. But two people familiar with the matter say Russia’s team will enter the stadium to the music of t.a.T.u, made up of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova. The group will perform at the warm-up show that won’t be broadcast internationally, the people said. The Russian team will then file into the stadium to the sound of their 2003 hit “Not Gonna Get Us.”
The rest of the ceremony will focus on Russia’s history from ancient times through Imperial Russia to the Soviet era, according to the people familiar with the plans. Church domes will float above the newly-built stadium, giant magic horses will glow in the sky, and Russian heavy weight boxing champion and the lawmaker Nikolai Valuyev will perform as Uncle Styopa, a benign giant policeman from a Russian children’s book.
Sounds charming! The band has been accused of being “fake lezzie” which I guess is enough of an excuse for Putin to let this one slide? Who the f*ck knows! Hopefully they slip eachother the tongue onstage, and then cut to Putin’s reaction. Check out their lady-loving hit below!
I know, it’s not the nicest thing to wake up to with your cornflakes and coffee, but it’s important that people see this video! Human Rights Watch has just released a graphic and shocking new video highlighting many of the various violent attacks on the LGBT community in Russia.
As circumstances for LGBT Russians continue to deteriorate, they are urging for the Russian government to take action and re-address their brutal stance ahead of the Sochi Olympic Games:
“The Russian authorities have the power to protect the rights of LGBT people, but instead they are ignoring their responsibility to do so,” said Tanya Cooper, Russia researcher at Human Rights Watch. “By turning a blind eye to hateful homophobic rhetoric and violence, Russian authorities are sending a dangerous message as the world is about to arrive on its doorstep for the Olympics that there is nothing wrong with attacks on gay people.”
Be warned — the video is not for the faint of heart:
