The fake power-lesbians of t.A.T.u. are the new faces of Marc Jacobs. It's like a race to recycle old shit these days. The seventies were all the rage in the nineties, then the eighties came back, now the nineties and early two thousands are coming back. Late 2007 is going to be hot for next season.

I'm not saying Americans aren't somewhat insensitive to the fine points of sexuality. Our culture still has Puritan roots, after all. Blame us for being descendants of Europe's fundie rejects.
But this duo was marketed by focusing on their supposed sexuality. All their popular songs were focused on this angle. And when they were caught out dating their "bodyguards", we all went, "uh-huh". I'd believe it of the Indigo Girls before them. It's like saying Katy Perry is bi just because she "Kissed A Girl" and "liked it". Sure, she could be, but I think she's just working the same angle in a solo act.
Don't get me wrong, as pop goes, both are catchy. But I don't claim them as "family". I say they have profited from the first glimmers of acceptance, and more power to them. We have a long way to go, anyway.
So unless you can prove they have actually had lesbian relationships, chill out with the kneejerk defense.
The are NOT fake lesbians. They are BISEXUALS. How americans are not informed well. It's sad. And they are not old shit. They have many fans. Maybe not in that boring USA but in whole europe, japan.
