The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles has captured the spirit of a Tina Turner stage show in this impressive performance of "Proud Mary," which features costumes, choreography, and fierce trannies. Doesn't it make you want to join the group?
THANKS for posting this! Members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles work for free, volunteering about 50,000 collective hours together annually. And when it all comes together, this is what it looks like. Gonna be in LA? Be sure to check our site for upcoming performances at: www.gmcla.org
I love GMCLA and have been a season ticket holder for 10+ years. However after hearing what a friend of mine encountered during tryouts I would never recommend it to anyone unless they can hold their own on a Broadway stage and they're white or asian. Out of about 150 singers, there are maybe 5 that are black.
My friend was also told that half of the current members wouldn't make it into the Chorus today if they tried.
I'll not be renewing my tickets after this season.
