!! OMG, the gayest ever: The Tony’s !!

It was a particularly gay night at Sunday’s Tony Awards…and that’s saying something for the Tony’s. Among the highlights were host Neil Patrick Harris‘s opening number called “It’s Not Just For Gays Any More!” (watch it after the jump) and Ellen Barkin‘s emotional and poignant acceptance speech for Best Actress in a Featured Role for The Normal Heart. And then, of course, playwright Larry Kramer’s acceptance speech for Best Revival of a Play for The Normal Heart. Did you watch last night? What were your favorite moments?

Loved “anything you can do” between Hugh Jackman and NPH. Loved how emotional Sutton got when talking about her dresser. Was a great show!

Favorite moment: Daniel Radcliffe’s after-sex hair.
Least favorite moment: That boring ballad from Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark. While I’m sure the song has some level of poignancy during the actual show, it doesn’t really deliver for the Tony Awards. Where is the choreography? Where are the cool special effects? Where is Spiderman? Heck, where is the huge spider? That performance was like watching paint dry.

While it was nice to see those chorines dressed as sailors shaking their asses as they picked up NPH, I have to admit the two things I liked most were the Brotherhood of Man number from How to Succeed, simply because it’s exciting to see Daniel Radcliffe singing and dancing, and Tyne Daly’s lovely speech about the late and not always kind, gay writer, Arthur Laurents as she introduced the In Memoriam section.
Overall, this was a marvelous Tony show!!
