!! OMG, he came out.... sorta: Matt Bomer !!


Matt Bomer is gay! ...Uh, yeah, duh. Though the "White Collar" star has repeatedly skirted the issue of his sexuality in interviews in the past, it seems Bomer finally felt prepared to publicly acknowledge what we've known all along -- that he and partner, Simon Halls, have a family. Accepting an award at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards this weekend, Bomer said, "I'd especially like to thank my beautiful family -- Simon, Kit, Walker, and Henry -- thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment."

Not to nitpick, but he never said "my partner" or "my husband". After saying "my family" he rattled off a list of names and Simon was one of them. To anyone who does not follow gay blogs or gossip sites, Simon could be his brother or a cousin. Yeah, we all know that's his hubby, but "Mr. and Mrs Middle America" probably don't know that. And the hoards of delusional fangirls who for the past two years have flooded IMDB and other sites with "HE'S STRAIGHT!!! HE'S STRAIGHT!!! HE'S STRAIGHT!!! HE'S A PUSSYHOUND!! will zero in immediately on the fact that he never actually said the words "I am a gay man." And they will go on INSISTING that he's straight, thereby perpetuating the myth that there are NO GAY ACTORS in Hollywood! But for my money, this is as close to a coming out statement as we are likely to get from Matt and it more or less works for me. Sorry fangirls.
