Um, is anyone else a little pissed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie appear to be engaged (what else would the rock on her finger mean?) after they made such a stink about not getting married until everyone can? Yes, Brad has said that the couple's herd of kiddies have been begging them to get hitched -- but, come on, once you take a stand for equality, you're kiiiiiiinda supposed to stick with it. Ugh.

If and when Brad Pitt marries Jolie that will be one of the worst mistakes he will make IN HIS LIFE!!
For HIM TO SAY THAT THE KIDS WANT THEM TO MARRY, WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN, DOES HE LOVE HER,DOES he WANT TO MARRY THAT SORRY PIECE OF FEMALE,THIS IS SO SAD, CAN'T CLOONEY AND BRADS SO CALLED FRIENDS,KIDNAP HIM SO HE WILL NOT MAKE THIS AWFUL MISTAKE, MAY THE LORD BLESS BRAD PITT,BECAUSE he WILL NEED ALL THE PRAYERS HE CAN GET!!!!!!!!!!!

Chad,

Please explain to me how the comments in this section are "catty." Catty means spiteful. Which is more spiteful: someone pledging to stand in solidarity with the oppressed by giving up his heterosexual privilege and then reneging on that pledge or those who feel betrayed by such an action?

Brad is quite the humanitarian, but this feels like a slap in the face. Standing in solidarity with another implies for better or for worse. Brad allegedly said that they were taking these measures because of the children; what a great teaching moment this would have been for them to say, "Kids, *this* is why we refuse to get married."

As much as allies hope to support us, they will never understand how hard it is to be LGBT because they can turn their identity as allies on or off whenever it's convenient/inconvenient. We don't get that pleasure.

No, it doesn't piss me off. They do not owe me or anyone else anything. The comments so far are so unbelievably catty and frankly an embarrassment to the gay community. Getting married does not mean that they no longer support gay marriage or LGBT issues. In the end they have to do what is right for them and their family...no matter what you or anyone else thinks.

I have to say I'm pissed too.
It's almost as if they used us to get headlines. "Brad And Angie Vow Not To Wed Until Everyone Has Equal Rights". But, push comes to shove, it's time to abandon ship. Why? Because THEY CAN!
They don't have to fight the good fight because the troubles we go through don't apply to them. It's easy to say "we support you" when the issue isn't really affecting your life.
Why can't they use this as a teachable moment for their children, that you can't always get what you want, and mommy and daddy are supporting others who can't get married. Some of their kids will understand, the ones who are too young what does it matter. They won't understand mommy & daddy's marriage anyway. So, will she change her last name to match his? Will all the kids have the same last name now (since Angie adopted some on her own).
Yeah... I'm a little pissed.

I understand you being angry, but at the end of the day they need to lookout for their family unit. For all we know, many of them an be suffering from identity issues from being adopted and different from each other. Getting married may help create more stability for all the children.

I was glad to hear that they took a stand on the issue, besides showing support, so hearing that now they are backpedaling pisses me off.

To back out when it becomes inconvenient goes against the whole point of taking such a stand. If Brad and Angie think it's tough for them to navigate (what will the kids think, I want to make a formal commitment, etc.), how do they imagine we feel about it, in our relationships?
