It’s been a while since we last wrote about Sky Ferreira, the former Michael Jackson confidant that showed a lot of potential with the Kylie-esque single “The One” back in 2010 but then kind of fell off with the generic (and borderline country-rock) single “Obsession” before landing (where else?) in the outstretched arms of ubiquitous celebrity photographer Terry Richardson.
Thankfully she has recovered with “Everything Is Embarrassing,” an extremely stylish pop ballad co-written with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid, one of the songwriters behind Usher’s belter “Climax.” The track is taken from her forthcoming Ghost EP, which is due out on October 16 via Capitol Records. The EP will also feature collaborations with singer-songwriter Cass McCombs, big-time pop producer Greg Kurstin, Fiona Apple collaborator Jon Brion and Band of Horses’ Blake Mills.
