!! OMG, Britney demo sounds like…Ke$ha !!

brit.jpg
When I heard the leaked demo of Britney‘s new single, Hold It Against Me, what ran through my ears were the vocal stylings of Madame Glitter herself, Ke$ha. This wouldn’t be the first time Brit used a song from another pop star, considering the slew of her past tracks written and demoed by Gaga — although going from Gaga to Ke$ha seems like a downgrade, no?
Brit confirmed the leak via Twitter, saying, “Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that’s good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday.” So she’s going to take Ke$ha’s voice, add baby noises and that’s what we’re going to hear next week. Whomp whomp.

!! OMG, download a ‘Nicki-centric’ re-edit of Kanye West’s “Monster” !!

nicki-centric_w_border.jpg
Brooklyn-based DJ/remixer Kingdom has created a re-edit of Kanye West‘s single “Monster” that skips Yeezy and Hov’ (but not Rick Ross) and goes straight to the part every gay dance floor wants to hear: Nicki Minaj‘s star-making final verse. Will she ever top it? Will we ever tire of it?

!! OMG, tear: LeAnne Rimes sings with GMCLA !!

LeAnne Rimes joined the Gay Men’s Chorus of LA for its holiday concert, singing that Bette Midler classic, The Rose. A teary Rimes dedicated the song to the memory of those who took their lives and to anyone facing anti-gay bullying — a wonderful sentiment, yes, but what is she wearing???

!! OMG, preview the new solo EP from The Gossip’s Beth Ditto !!

bethditto.jpg
The Gossip’s Beth Ditto is about to release a dance-y four-track solo EP produced by Simian Mobile Disco‘s James Ford and Jaz Shaw, with whom she previously collaborated on the SMD track “Cruel Intentions”. The band has steadily moved further afield from their bluesy punk beginnings toward a more dance floor-friendly sound and judging from the below preview, Ditto’s solo stuff is even more minimal and restrained than what we’re used to hearing from her — both musically and vocally.
Deconstruction Records hasn’t announced the EP’s title, tracklisting or official release date, but it will be available as 12-inch record and a digital download from Beatport sometime in January.

!! OMGaga: The Lady’s NYE !!

20101214_gaga_01459_v2-468x624.jpg
Courtesy of Lady Gaga‘s New Year’s Eve midnight tweet, we now know the official release date for her next album, Born This Way. The album hits stores — and iTunes, obvi — on May 23, but the first single comes out Feb. 13, the night of the Grammy’s and just one day before Valentine’s Day. Thanks in advance for the love, Gaga <3 While Page Six reports that the Lady called it an early night after dinning with boyfriend Luc Carl at New York tapas bar Caliu, I have it on good authority that the couple then made their way to Lower East Side bar St. Jerome’s, where she rang in 2011. While Gaga said the butt-tastic photo she tweeted is NOT the album cover, it still hints at a possible unicorn theme, which only seems appropriate given that gays, Gaga and unicorns all share a glittery, magical status.
